Gps time off

Have anyone have this problem with there GPS time being off by an hour. I have the nav system and when time springed forward my clock failed to update. The time zone is correct "central time" which is set by the GPS. I had to changed the time manually but this year I paid attention to the fact that it did not update. Hitting the time reset which syncs it with the GPS put its an hour behind. I know it is not only my car because the service rep at the my dealership was lost as to what the problem was and checked another taurus which had the same issue.

yeah that is what i thought but all my other systems and gps in my truck which is a tom tom auto updated to the correct time.

I was not concerned at all about it, since everything else is working correctly. It is curious as to why it did not update automatically.

Exactly I am curious because it is based on GPS time and usually it is accurate. I am checking out other forums and some other vehicles have that same issue while others are saying that their's auto updated correctly with the same vehicle.

Mine DID NOT update automatically.

When I change time zones from FL to IA, it changes within a few feet of the time change. Assumed it was something in Sync programming.

Wonder if it will be an hour fast when the normal date of DST occurs????

Some food for thought Mark:
Aren't we now 'Spring-ing ahead' and 'Fall-ing back' earlier by about 2 weeks? If memory serves that started a couple years ago.

So if we did nothing now and didn't correct the time (now) and waited 2 weeks wouldn't the clock spring ahead an hour as it used to if set to automatically update

Maybe someone can confirm this if they don't mind leaving their clock off by an hour for another 2 weeks.

As far as I know when it comes to GPS time the clock should of already sprung forward unless it is not based on GPS time. Reason is our military always used GPS time to coordinate etc so if it is not precise all **** could break loose as far as coordinating. If it is based on GPS time and it is obviously wrong something is detrimentally messed up. I am thinking they set the date or the software or something is messed up. Someone on the SYNC forum said a fix came out March 4th for the clock issue.

?: The manual for the vehicle states that this vehicle does not acknowledge daylight savings time.
I find that kind of funny especially because you have the option to sync it with the "GPS".

That would make sense since I believe these clocks are programmed for many years based on existing parameters. (from the factory)
I know my 10 yr. old digital wristwatch doesn't update on today's schedule but does on the old schedule.
So our pre-programmed car clocks must have to be 'updated' to reflect the time changes for the time change -- if you get my drift.
Little confusing but essentially we used to do these changes (Spring ahead and Fall back) at different times of the month: used to be the the last Saturday/Sunday in March in the springtime, and the first Saturday/Sunday in October..( if memory serves).............
Now tho it is the first Saturday/Sunday in March for spring ahead and the last Saturday/Sunday in October.---
which of course our clocks are not programmed for.

I'd like to know more about this update you mentioned. Have you got a link please?

Yes, I agree very strange since on the clock screen there is an option to turn on and off automatic DST switch.

MJ.. if the clock in the car is anything like the watch I described above, once the correction is made, I believe the automatic update feature is canceled for that particular session.
That's why I suggested that if someone hasn't updated yet that maybe they'd like to wait and see if it updates at the old time change..

I'm pretty sure your clock won't change again now that you've corrected it already.

Guys, I'm pretty sure gps time is always GMT. Remember, these satellites cover the whole world, so having them change time with U.S. Daylight savings time would be weird for everyone else. DST is implemented in whatever device is displaying the time

I believe I've said that. The unit's program is now incorrect and needs to be reprogrammed to reflect the different time change times -- and yes I too believe that the signal sent is GMT which is the standard.
Sooooo that must be adjusted for timezones and DST, EST, MDT, MST etc etc. which is done at the receiving device............. I believe.

But shouldn't it do it automatically also? In other words if you program for DST it should change automatically.
Would yours now change automatically or would you still have to do it manually?

My Lex GPS automatically updates.
