All.

My 93 MTX has got me stumped.

KOEO test gives
116
114

Unfortunately, the battery has been disconnected for a while, so I'm not sure if I have lost any codes.

Engine cranks beautifully. I'm getting a spark from all three front plugs, haven't checked the rears. Fuel pump comes on normally. I've sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body while cranking. There is no detonation at all. Tach reads between 500 and 600 rpm while cranking. The cams are spinning and it's sucking air as normal.

I've replaced the DIS with a known working one, no difference.

The car was running great. It sat for two weeks in the cold while I was out of town. Now it just won't fire. I can't imaging what could have happened while the car was sitting that would cause this.

Thanks,
Jeff

Check the compression to see if the timing belt slipped when you turned it off?
I doubt it,also check the idle control motor to see if its bad or maybe you fouled the plugs from flooding it from it not starting right up.

Try cranking it with the gas pedal fully depressed to the ground (keep it down untill the engine fires), it might just be flooded.

Yeah, I've tried holding the throttle wide open while cranking. I've also tried spraying starting fluid into the throttle body while cranking. Not even a sputter. You would think that there would be something. I'm definitely getting a spark, although it could be at the wrong time. I've heard of the Cam position sensor causing 2 or 3 try starts but I'm not sure about complete failure.

This weekend, I will be performing a timing test with a timing light followed by a compression check. I will also check the position of the cam sprokets with cyl. #1@TDC.

Does anyone know if a spark with still get produced with a poorly grounded DIS? I was short on di-electric grease when I swapped the DIS out. I'm getting a spark for sure, but I'm not sure if it's at the right time. Would a bad DIS ground cause this?

Thanks

Update. Got it started. I took out spark plugs 4,5 and 6, and let the three front cylinders air out a bit. Held it at WOT while cranking, and finally after a lot of sputtering, it held an idle.

I then drained the oil. It was very thin and smelled like fuel. I'm now getting error code 172, and 176. O2 sending lean condition. After browsing old posts, I'm thinking that failed o2 sensors are the root cause to the poor gas mileage and gas in the oil.

Tonight, I will swap the o2's from my '90 and retest.
