I did a national salvage search for 94 Sable w/ABS for the required parts for 96 brake upgrade.

They want $50/side plus $15.00 shipping per side. Is this as good a deal as I should expect?

Should I use the 94 Sable parts as apposed to the 95 Continental?

I'm not sure about the correct sizing/models/year between all the Ford models. However, If that is the correct part(s) that's not a bad price. Hopefully they aren't off a front end damaged car where the hubs could get bent out of spec. Get new wheel bearings when you get them.

well, I don't really know what you asked them for exactly, but the only usable parts if you asked for all that from a 94 sable would be the caliper and the knuckle. I can get the knuckles for about $35 each with good hubs, the calipers could probably get thrown in since I do so much business with them. I am unsure about the brackets, whethere there are any available at this certain location.

I just found a couple places on car-part.com that were selling calipers for $15 each. Not sure if that includes the bracket, but if it does, all you'll need is 2 of them ($30 for brackets and calipers :eek) and then your 2 knuckles (Say $85 shipped) then all you need is your rotors and pads. That's a cheap deal! When looking for calipers and brackets, look for a 95+ lincoln continental.

Here is what I searched for:

PARTS NEEDED:
Front:
spindles/rotors/calibers/hubs/brake hardware

VEHICLE TYPE: 1994 Mercury - Sable

Here are two seperate quotes:

1)115.00 DOLLARS SHIPPED. THANSK, STEVE

S AN DH AUTOPARTS
324102 MIDDLEBELT RD
NEW BOSTON, MI48164

2)We've got good low mileage knuckle/hub/rotor/caliper (with ABS) for each side. Price for each assembly is $50.00 plus $15.00

I'm just getting all the info I need for this upgrade so forgive my ignorance. I know about the 95 Lincoln caliper, but I found this list from a thread here (can't remember who posted it):

Knuckles, hubs & calipers from 94 Sable w/ABS $100
New 95 Continental Calipers (used the ones from the Sable as cores) $75
New 95 Continental Rotors $100
New 94 Sable Bearings $90
New 95 Continental Caliper Brackets (could find any used) $85
New 93 SHO brake hoses $30
New Raybestos Semi-metallic Pads $40

Total $520

So, I'm just trying to follow what he did, and the other advice given here! Thanks for any additional input.

I wouldn't go with that just because of the junk you're not going to need (rotor and bracket) Just get the hubs from someone, do a search on car-part.com, and do the same for just calipers for the 95+ conti. Make sure they come with the brakets, and then you'll just need your pads and rotors. It'll be alot cheaper than $500+

Even though I don't need the 94 Salbe rotors and calipers, couldn't I used them as core?

I know what your saying and I agree, it's just for $115.00 shipped seems like a deal. Is it too good to be true saying apply here or is the K.I.S.S. method bested used here?
