I missed a paint fault on my pre-purchase inspection. The paint around the right tail light cluster on the trunk lid has a large peeled-off spot. The good news is that there is no rust (yet), and the vehicle is a 2016 with just over 20k on the clock.

Could this be covered under bumper to bumper? It's not at a spot where it could be easily attributed to a rock chip or a scratch from normal use. It would seem to be a paint defect. What say ye?

Thanks,

Mike

Yeah, that's a wear point, where the taillight is in contact with the paint, it seems. Move the taillight, apply touchup, and move on ;)

However, I would still try to get Ford to take care of it. Stuff like that is kinda tough to get Ford to do anything with. But who knows, if you push the "taillight was installed incorrectly" line, they might take care of it.

Look carefully at all the rear tail lamps for contact. Common area for damage. The paint may be related damage to the mispositioned tail lamps.

My driver's side had this issue - like brand spanking new when I picked it up from the dealer! They fixed it of course being so new. Hope they take care of yours.
