Good tire rim combo

So I was looking through the tire and rim info and I couldn’t find the largest tire I can fit. I know it says 17” works with rubbing (Gen1 btw), but I found the tires I want have more options under 18” something I dont think would fit what are the biggest I can run so I know the most I can do. Offsets? I really don’t know what this means?

The wheels are really irrelevant as far as sizing. 16s, 17, 18s, will all work without rubbing as long as you pick the correct offset or use in combination of spacers. Correct offset for our cars is +35-45. Pick a wheel within that range and you should be ok.

The tire size is more important. When you see or hear a wheel/tire rubbing, it's the tire that is actually rubbing. Once you have the wheel picked out then just compare the stock size tire to something you think will fit via this website. Plus or minus a little bit usually won't hurt anything.

The stock tire size is 215/60/16.
I have 17s with 225/45/17 and I think they look a little on the small side. My next set will be 225/50/17 and that should fill the wheel well up better. I had 18s at one point and used 225/45/18 with no problems or rubbing. Keep in mind that my car is a Gen1 and my rear lips are not rolled.

BTW, offset is the measurement plus or minus off the center line of the wheel. If a wheel is +45 that means the mounting surface of the wheel is 45mm past the center line and that wheel will tuck further inside the wheel well. A wheel that is -45 means that the mounting surface of the wheel is 45mm before the center line of the wheel and that wheel will sit further out of the wheel wheel. Typically, front wheel drive cars have positive(+) offset. The SHO is +35 thru +45.
