Hey all so I’ve been playing with the idea of selling the SHO and getting another rig or maybe just getting a second vehicle. What is something competitive for the SHO that won’t cost me out the ass in maintenance (like the SHO) lol

What are you really looking for? While you could certainly out class or out perform a SHO, you probably won't be doing so for the same amount of money. Maintenance on any competitive vehicle will be on par or more expensive, depending on which market you go with. Imo nothing domestic outperforms the SHO enough to justify a change. Sure a charger may be faster, but how much, and the SHO is nicer. You could go German, but if maintenance costs on the SHO are steep for you, I'd stay away.

So again, what are you really wanting in a replacement?

If you're looking for all wheel drive leather climate control all the options and 400 (+-) horse the price points going to be considerably higher in most applications
If you got one that was a little rough you can always sell it and pick up another one that's a little cleaner for a little more money

I agree with bpd...KIA Stinger GT2. I drove one and the only reason I didn't buy it was that I couldn't tow it behind my motorhome 4 down. I also drove the Genesis 5.0 and it was a very nice ride...but again...no 4 down towing. For me, the SHO is the only game in town. Having come from a BMW 7 series and an X5, I would say, stay away. They are problematic beyond belief. My Lexus LS460 on the other hand, was outstanding.

if want to stay in the ford family i love my marauder. you can find a low miles one for around 10k and make it as fast as you want with plenty of mod options.

A Chevy SS will cost you more over the life of the car because you spend so much more in the beginning.

Also get a $hitbix daily for cheap. I had a 2003 GTI 1.8 T with a 5 speed. I liked that turbo hatch so much, I traded it in on another turbo hatch. Now I daily a tuned 2013 Focus ST. Thing is a riot to drive compared to the SHO.

Wow thanks for all the replies guys. I really want something with more modding potential (ik, I said I didn’t want high maintenance lmao) and since I live up north where snow can get bad u/limited02 knows what aim talking about I need something that will really get around. So something AWD would be nice. I love the stinger but I’m gonna wait a couple years for the good ol kia depreciation lol

Found a 91 VR4 that I’ve really been eyeing because I’ve always been a Japanese 90s guy but also need something reliable and haven’t heard much on them

You think a SHO has high maintenance...a VR4 is really asking for it.

the truth is, when it comes to turbo performance type cars, the Ford's are pretty high up the list in terms of reliability and reasonable costs of repairs/maintenance. almost any other choice you make will be more expensive to fix and less reliable.
