It's been a while since I've posted on here, mostly because the car had be up on Jacks while I tinkered away. I did get the car on the road recently and almost immediately crashed the car into a steel fence post. I'm stupid and young and I just want to make this car right again because I can't make my self **** it.

Being a Black on green 1991 SHO plus it's a bit of a rare bird apparently.

So the hunt for parts is on again. Is there a particular part of the forum I'm supposed to post about this in?

I'll make a list of what I need here in any case.

Radiator core support
Radiator
Oil cooler
Front bumper with all the structure behind it (don't need the fog lights)
Headlights (I'd love to do the lights like the ones in the original Robocop taurus, but the stock ones will do for now)
And if anyone has a police grille lying around I'll take that too.

You may as well buy the rad new (usually around $100.00). If nothing else, RockAuto has them.

You might want to look at your header panel (plastic thing where headlights mount) as they usually fail in this situation. RockAuto has them new.

The rad supports come up for sale on E-bay and other sources and they are usually in the $100.00 plus range (especially with the exchange), see http://www.shoforum.com/index.php?threads/radiator-support.130883/ the one I bought included shipping.

No one wants to ship a front bumper (except SV&HOdan), and it comes by Bus Parcel Express, so you have to pick it up in Watertown. It is a real pain, but worth it if there is no other choice. The bus depots don't make much of an effort to satisfy customers.
SV&HOdan will also have the headlights and oil cooler, but you can have them shipped to Alexandria Bay UPS or similar place. Try him for the header panel too as it may fit in the same shipping package.

Put an ad. in the "Wanted to Buy" section on this forum for everything and see if there is any interest, or at least a Canadian source.

Also, phone around Kingston to see if any yards have anything old. The regular Taurus bumper is the same in behind the outer cover (which is SHO specific). Our problem is everything got crushed when scrap was around $300.00 a car, 4 0r so years ago, and everything got scrapped and picked up.

Take a look around Upstate NY where you got the car. They did not seem to be as "Crush Happy" as we were. As a point of reference, up until a few years ago there was a GenI Taurus "Taxi" in Ogdensburg NY, so that puts it in perspective.

And do not run any of these repairs through insurance, as they will write the car off; and due to the rad saddle damage, brand it as salvage.

A 'bit rare'? I'd say extremely rare and also highly sought after. Congrats on the car, sorry about the wreck, and glad you are fixing it.

Thanks for the information bud. I'm waiting for a reply from Dan, and I have a Kinic account with a lumber yard in Alexandria bay so shipping isn't a big deal. I'll also get in touch with the fellow I bought the car.

I know someone here in Alberta who has a red gen 1 bumper, and police grill. Not sure if it's worth shipping the bumper, unless you don't find one locally, but he would likely be willing to sell the police grill as he's more into Gen 2's...

I would look at the front cooling fan as well (if your bent your rad saddle). Take out your unit and check the plastic housing as you may have a few broke "spokes" in the housing center that holds your fan motor. Fix the unit you have as it is **** trying to take the motor out of the plastic housing, or even taking the fan wheel off the fan shaft. Just reinforce any broken plastic parts on your housing assembly.

Post some picture of your rad saddle. If you did not destroy your hood, it could be that the damage is not too severe. If possible, try to straighten you old rad saddle, as replacing that thing requires lifting the front fender tips up to get that thing in behind. It can be done, but it takes a lot of time. No matter what you do, keep every bent up clip, support stand, and nut and bolt from the rad saddle to the header panel, and draw a picture of where they go, as you remove them, as there are no others, and you will be reusing them.

My rad saddle was replaced because the bottom part of the rad saddle was totally rotted, so I was kind of trapped into doing the swap. Otherwise, I would have straightened mine.
