Please Help...95 ATX 89,000 drove perfect yesterday,
When i stay under 3000 rpm the car drives fine, over 3000 rpm the car surges, climate control get all disoriented, bucking, the rpms remain steady, or i would blame the CPS, that's only 6 months old.
I got the following codes:
425
431
543 Fuel pump secondary circuit failure
721
765
*543 was the only code i could find when i looked them up*

Sorry to say this, but your Alternator is toast. Specifically the regulator inside it. When you go WOT that takes a lot of power. That is why the ETAC went blank, not enough juice.

BTW, your battery is toast too because it was either overcharged or undercharged.

Get a new battery and take the alternator to a respectable rebuild shop to rebuild it. Or you can buy a new one from Ford for $500, no other choices.

How do I know this? I fought that problem for 2 years, 4 alternators and 6 batteries. Thank God for warranties.

It looks like you pulled the codes wrong, try it again, none of the numbers correspond with anything.

I would not worry about the fuel pump code, that was probably caused by the alternator issues. For good measure redo the pulling of codes for KOER and KOEO.

Refer to the link posted previously to see what the sequence of flashes should look like. You apparently misread the codes so why should you follow up on any of the ones you posted? The codes should display and repeat in the hard fault section, a six second pause, then a separator flash, another six second pause, then the memory codes will display and repeat.

I agree that it sounds like a voltage regulator problem. That part is internal to the alternator. There are sources other than Ford at much lower prices so shop around. Check with AutoZone(.com) and O'Reillys(.com). I have found good remanufactured units through my local O'Reilly.

Good find! But the ground through the alternator is through its mount to the engine block. The single wire attached to the rear of the alternator is the 12 volt power supply.
