......check tire air pressure, wipers + fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, antifreeze level, power steering fluid, brakes....oh and check your lights, headlights especially high beams if your going to be driving at night and make sure your brake lights are working.
If the timing belt and waterpump have never been changed it is definately a good idea to do it before the trip. You don't want to make a high mileage trip with a 10 year old timing belt. wink

DO your 60k...
He drives an ATX... He really doesn't need to do it until 100k.

The car won`t fail because of a lack of 60k,assuming your talking about valve shimming. There are TONS of sho`s with 200k and 300k+ that have never had the valves adjusted. For the car to run 100% perfect, sure,do it.But,it won`t ever **** the motor to make it undrivable. The 90k on it is concidered low miles,i`d take it in a second. The car Kirk and myself drove from Massachussetts to Oklahoma was a 193,000 mile 92 SHO.It has no 60k,missmatch tires, and no oil change in about a year.

Not at all.I`m just telling him that not having the valves done will NOT affect his drive. It`s not a necessity for a long road trip, things like oil change, belt check, spare tire check, ect are.

If you think the O2 sensors are bad, then replacing them before the trip can save you money in fuel. Both sensors can be changed from underneath the car using a 22mm box end wrench. My wrench has 12 inside points. I couldn't get a 6 point wrench on the rear sensor. I needed to open the connector in order to push the connector through the box end wrench. I was able to disconnect the rear sensor's connector from underneath the car using just one hand. Some people like to access this connector from the top of engine and then crawl under the car to remove the sensor. Make sure the new sensors have anti-sieze compound on them before installing them.

You may want to change the sparkplugs. Again, this may save you fuel. I first changed the plugs on my 95 ATX at approx 40,000 miles (60,000 km). With the new plugs came a much smoother, quieter, more powerful and more fuel efficient engine. The plugs on the ATX are actually quite easy to change without removing the manifold. If you need specific instructions, mail me.

You should install a new air filter, and possibly a new fuel filter. Both filters are easy to change.

You should carry a few litres (quarts in the US?) of oil. Also take 2 large jugs of water. You wouldn't want a slight cooling system leak to strand you.
