What is 1/4 mile ET of a bone stock GIII? Also what would it take to make a GIII running under 14 seconds in the 1/4?

Thanks
Jake

The 1/4 times on a G3 are slightly slower than the G1-2 cars, due to drivetrain loss, so a high 15 should be expected.

To get under 14, 13.xx, youd need to strip the interior bone dry( see drivin hard's 89 car under featured SHO's) and have some serious intake and traction mods.

EDIT: Part of Mark's success with that 89 is that the 89 was the lightest SHO to begin with, then he gutted it. Also, although I've not met him, his driving reputation is such that he could probably achieve a 13.xx 1/4 time in a Yugo!

I managed a 14.9 slip just by running in cold weather with the passenger seats ripped out (about 150 lb weight saving). I also had a K&N panel filter (worth 2hp!) and slightly shorter tires (which doesn't seem to make much of a difference).

I also ran a 15.3 last month (70 degree temps) with a full interior and taller tires. Other than that I'm pretty much stock.

I don't think that there's anything that will get you into the 14's in warm weather other than N2O, a turbo or a supercharger.

It is my impression that stock and near stock Gen IIIs, run in reasonably low ambient temperatures, tend to run mid to low 15s. I only ran mine once, and it was before I changed to the 17 inch wheels, but with just a K&N panel filter replacing the stock panel and an intake to the wheel well rather than through the sax, I ran a 15.1. But it was in the mid 60sF out. So I do not think mid to low 15s on stock or near stock Gen IIIs is abnormal. High 15s seems to be the number that would be a bit less common.

I don't know about that Stephen.

I've done the "Porterized" thing and the open cone thing and after about 12 total runs in the past two years I'm ALWAYS between 15.5-15.8

In fact, it's so close and consistent I'd probably own all at a bracket race!

What does your SVT Focus run in the 1/4 mile?

The fastest time I was able to squeeze out of my '97 SHO was a 15.77@88mph. I had Flowmasters, no resonator, and a K&N panel filter. That was all. My slowest was a 16.1 frown

14.6 last fall, going out today to see if the lower gears and Apten chip help improve these times.

I took it to the track twice, in about 4 runs I managed a dismal 16.4

I was told by much faster SVTF owners that I'm launching wrong, I've seen times consistent with G3's ( scary ) but most run high 15's. This car is a bitch to launch!

The fastest SVTF I've heard of is in the 13's with nitrous. The few turbo SVTs out there are managing low 14's with bad traction and nervous launches. I have yet to see any track numbers on a JRSC equipped SVTF.
