GH Tune - Power Pack or Custom?

Hmmm... You have colder plugs, a tune, and other mods so I'm wondering if your car is just doing a better job of keeping the car cool. Mine swings between 170 and 200. It'll cool to 170ish and then run back up around 195-198 before falling back down to 170ish again. And the cycle repeats.

Seems like more work on the T-stat and radiator if it's constantly swinging only 10 degrees. But maybe that's better for the car? I honestly don't know.

Brad didn't modify my fans timing in the tune either. Also I have a trans cooler that sits in front of my condenser as well. However, the stock fans on the SHO work damn good. I wish my Focus ST fan worked as good.

Its coolant temp. A few threads here and on ecoboost forum say 185 is normal for 160 degree tstat.
Factory tstat is 178. So stock running 190-200 makes sense. I tested my stock one in water before and it started to open at 178. Might be off a few degrees to 180 though.

I was asking what your ambient air temp was on your drive this morning.

Are you guys glancing at your tuner periodically or tracking an entire drive? My tuner tells me min and max for a drive. Here's a random pic I found in my phone. For that drive I stayed between 171 and 196. I have a 170 degree T-stat from Unleashed.

Oh my bad. Around 70-73. Even in over 90 degree ambient is dosnt go over 190. Im sure dry heat makes a difference over my 100% humidity 90 degrees.

Don't over think coolant tsats. You get a SMALL bump in power when the cylinders are bathed in cooler jackets but the tstat is just a valve that opens at a specific temp. The cooling system is not cooling the engine until that valve opens. The temp your coolant reaches is not the temp of the tstat, its just the temp the tstat opened. Also there is a efficiency range of the water jacket temp. Too cold loses efficiency just like too hot.

I watch mine like a hawk. I watch boost, rail fuel pressure, and knock primarily. I also NEVER beat on my car until it gets to operating temp. I also wait for my trans to get over 100 degrees at a minimum. When I say operating temp, I mean at least 5 to 8 min after the t stat opens. Oil temp is priority.
