Getting New Struts

I am leaving the house here in a little while to go cash in on Monroes buy 3 get 1 free deal. I'm getting the Sensatracs and I'm going to mount Eibachs on them. I'll put before and afters up when I finish it in a couple weeks. Any tips?

I have menroes and cut eibacks on my 92, and its a nice FIRM ride. No bouncing. In fact there are times when its too rough, but thats only in the big cities.

Nice. I will have you know that I'm a transplant. I'm from South Carolina and my wife's from Georgia, and it's different out here, that's for sure. We're gonna visit in August, and we're both ready for some southern hospitality after all this time out here.:woohoo:

As far as the struts, go for it. You already know the other options and have probably read up on which setup goes for which occassion, and worn out suspension is no fun, so all the best to ya.

this is the set up i am running as well... just dont waste your time installing the springs stock. you will just have to yank them back out later and cut a coil. i did and it was a hassle. no i wish i had cut another half coil because the wheel gap is still kinda big because i am running 225-50-16 tires. the car sits low as it is now i have to be careful on driveways and getting a floor jack under means i have to drive one side onto a 4x4" block of wood on one side. but the ride is still perfect. soft when it needs to be but firms up quickly. you will be very happy with that setup no doubt in my mind.

Make sure to buy new strut mounts ! I would personally not cut a coil off of the Eibach's to start out with; they will be lower than stock and will settle down a little after time, and if you cut them, there is no way to go back to what they were. Cutting them down also increases torque steer and bump steer since you are changing geometries; shimming the rack helps even out the angle with bump steer, but not easy to even out the angle of the driveshafts, which means more torque steer; something FWD cars can get pretty ugly with when there is a lot of power.

I always use the factory jack points on the side of the car....or [flamesuit] I use the thingy that the control arms hook up to in the rear if I want both sides of the ass up in the air..[/flamesuit]

BTW...i'm running Eibachs with OEM Monroe struts, and my ride quality's pretty damn good and handling is VERY nice compared to stock.


Sits low enough for Michigan roads, too...with 225/50-16 tires, i've only got 2" of wheelgap on the front and 1 1/8th in the rear.

That should be ok, just make sure you get the jack centered on the lip. I have an H-Brace, which is what I usually jack the car up on. The side jack points would be nice, but theres no way to fit a jack stand under there when the jack is occupying the same space.

Good enought for me. Now all I need are the Eibachs, mounts and bearings...

Subframe connectors make jack stands super easy, too.RiceeatingSHO, you might consider SFC, too, while your doing suspension. They really flatten out your cornering.

Bolt in is a requirement for me, we don't have shop at school and I haven't learned to weld yet.

I agree about SFC's; they are one of the best low cost upgrades to improve the handling, provde good jacking points and get rid of the creaks and moans. Any shop can do the welding for very little cost, why do you say the mods have to be bolt on ?

this is my exact same experience, with the other suspension mods i have the ride is DEFINITELY not bouncy like everyone is always afraid of with stock struts and non oem springs.

I don't know how to weld. So if it's not bolt on I'm out of luck.
