On one Gen 3? Not one but the ONE. all your info for the BBB's are on V8SHO.

Still to this day, has the highest DYNOED NA HP/and TQ of them all. then add the Nitrous.

I still kick myself in the ass everyday for dismanteling this car!

The BBBs for the Gen 3 actually had a big power gain from them. If i remember correctly, i read an article about them that on their final tests, one Gen 3 was making like 25-30 extra HP...

Any idea about the difference in performance as compared to the current setup?

Supposidly produced 300hp but Ford scrapped it because the AX4N couldn't handle the increased torque. As usual, Ford does something backward by keeping the tranny (which can't handle the current de-tuned motor anyway) and losing the runners. What a bunch of morons.

BTW, someone needs to copy that runner set-up and sell it. It is by far the best performance mod that the Gen 3 can use and even if it does cost a few thousand, just the fact that it's a bolt on mod that anyone with hand tools can put on in a few hours, makes it even more worth it.

The tooling for that would be a fortune. What a shame. Ford was right though, the tranny would eat them alive in warranty costs. I thought they were in discussion with GM to make a fwd tranny that could handle stuff like this. I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

They didn't need GM, they just needed to use materials that could handle the stress for that certain application. For instance, my first car was a 1987 ****** GT and of all places that Ford used plastic was the front brake piston. Imagine what happened when the brakes got hot, boom melted brake pistons and hung calipers. It took the aftermarket to solve this by producing metal pistons. So you see my point is that in an effort to reduce cost or weight or whatever, Ford in the long run shoots themselves in the foot because they instead produce a product that can't be reliable. Same thing goes for the AX4N. How come you got these people out here manufacturing one that is beefier and much more reliable than original Ford unit and why couldn't Ford do it to begin with? Because they are a bunch of corporate morons that's why. And that's why the Gen 3 will never be held to the same standards as the Gens 1 and 2. Those were high performance sedans with cutting edge technology in their day. The Gen 3 is a wanna be that could have been just as bad ass but Ford dropped the ball big time and the above pictures of that beautiful runner system proves it.

By the way, there is no tooling needed to produce it. It's sand casted and all that would be needed is a reverse mold made out of styrofoam. Sure the butterflies and misc stuff might need to machined but that would be about it. Pretty simple actually.

what about aftermarket cams.

Could you imagine that? The whole cam welding thing would probably go right out the window!

from my understanding, putting aftermarket cams in would be just as detrimental to the engine as cam failure, as there's no clearance for higher valve lift or longer duration. but this is only what I've been told....

I saw the long list of welders of cam on the other forum and teh base price is around $500 + travel expenses so you would think there would be an aftermarket option but it looks like SuperHO is right http://www.answers.com/topic/ford-yamaha-v8-engine
states that there is no clearence, i would think you could go over the top and fly cut the pistons and make clearence

I am glad I have a 95 but my best friend just got a 97 last week and it sounds amazing compared to my V6
