I went full boat Theretrofitsource kit, buying their H1 mini. Need to do surgery on the new TYR replacement housings. Here are pics:

1) Disassemble

2) Cut ****** until flush with back curve with Dremel tool (or hacksaw if you are maso) have a vacuum handy (lots of dust)

3) Barrel sand 3 tabs inside hole until the hole is smooth

4) Test fit projector

5) Ensure lock nut on back is FLUSH, otherwise go back to step 2 and sand down more with hand sander or sandpaper and block of wood

6) Scuff reflective side with sandpaper in prep for paint

7) Drill holes for high-beam wire plug, first with 3/8 pilot, then hog out with 5/8. I used blue painters tape to start the bit as the surface is curved. Be sure to position LOW (close to bottom) enough to leave enough space for projector (hence the test fit from part 1). Remember: Measure twice, cut (or drill) once!

8) Paint interior black, masking off rubber using duct tape (it was the only thing I could get to stick)

9) Fit the plug and grommets into drilled holes

10) Seal wires and grommets with Silicone glue

11) Attach grounding ring. This is why you need to make sure it was flush above (see part 1). If it is not flush, you will not be able to attach this ring, which holds the bulb.

12) Install the bulb (USE GLOVES!!!)

Finally figured out why my lights were reversed, thanks to Thesubtleknife (TCCA member) and others postings. Motocontrol unit ships in 9007 configuration. I had to swap the pins in the blue connector so the low beam wire and high beam wires were reversed, since Taurus switches ground, not hot. LOVE driving at night now!

I've been looking at doing this to mine for a while, Glad to see people are still looking to do this. I bet things are much better at night! I always want to drive my Cadillac at night since it's lights are so much farther reaching than the Taurus'. Congrats!

Next up halo's!
