Wish it was that easy. When you pull the fuse the struts go into full hard mode. Hence, you lose the active ride control.

'lectric stuff is easy, just read the schematic. It's those dodgy mechanical type stuff.

Hey, I know this story, it starts with a box of parts, 3 guys, a 200 degree day in the garage and an unhappy wife and kids wondering when its gonna be done. It ends with 3 guys, a 192 degree night in the garage, a sledgehammer and a bottlejack.

It takes 2 hours for us to eat, how can we do a suspension in that time?

still can't stop lmao  i wish you guys were closer would luv to work a couple of time with you all ....

Come on I'm from London, this would be where we would say..

...Cor blimey Guvnor, strike me down with a feather, that's the same gubbins I got...

Nik, I had the sway bar upgraded back in 2000 and a stainless steel exhaust put on. Nothing else apart from that.

Chuck was talking about going down to some improptu car show on Friday, I might go to that.. are you going? Would be great to get another opinion, before I start ordering stuff.

Guys,

Another member on the v8sho mailing list has suggested looking at the subframe bushings. Do you think that this might be a possible cause?

Not really. It's been narrowed down to the rear suspension by a number of people. If it were a subframe bushing the clunk would be expected to be in the front somewhere.

Given the condition of your car (very good), the history (no significant time in the rust belt states), and the location of the clunk I'd say there's little to no chance it's the subframe bushings.

And the subframe bushings aren't hard to check. Next trip to Dooleyville we can put it on the lift again and take a peek.

Guys,

A buddy o' mine had a ride about and said that he didn't think it was the struts, but he thought it was the 'inner control arm bushing' whatever that is.

Is there an easy way of checking this?

Taurii have dual control arms plus a strut rod. It's rare for a rear control arm bushing to fail, but the strut rod bushings go wacky sometimes. I think a number of people poked at your strut rod bushing on the lift in order to check those, but they can certainly be checked again.

Was this a Taurus-aware person who opined thus?

Nope... How many people know much about SHOey type stuff.

Just someone who know's more than me... but that's not difficult.

The quest goes on.
