Hey, i just got my Gen1 back on the road and did a nighttime drive. I noticed the clock was not illuminated and i started questioning myself on whether or not it ever was. I'm guessing some bulb is out or am i crazy and it never lit up before when using the headlights ? I can't remember honestly! Yes i feel dumb ;)

Yes, it lights up at night. The whole clock pops out of the dash, and the light is contained in a little circular thing that, when you spin it in, connects 2 points on a circuit board.

When you start losing dash lighted items its a good time to check that your alternator is not overcharging. The regulators can fail "unregulated- full power". Check the battery (especially the positive lead) for signs of acid condensation.

Mike Gallion used to sell the replacement bulbs a few years back. Shoot him a message to see if he still does it, the prices were really reasonable.

He had 2 sizes that pretty well covered everything. Seemed to know all about them and where to get them, at the time.

If you are absolutely beat finding the clever little original bulb holder and bulb, you can take a small bulb with the exposed lead wires (push in type bulb), and solder each lead to the two circuits you see on the printed circuit board when the original bulb holder is spun out. Not pretty, but it will work.

Alternatively you can find a bulb similar in size, pull just the bulb itself off the base, then put it in the original base. That's what I had to do when mine burned out
