I've been looking around because I really want do a projector retrofit on my 98'. When I purchased the car, it already had HID bulbs (a really awful color), that scatter the light all over the place. Anyone with Gen III projectors know what kind they have? Any thoughts on what would be best to use? I've looked on some websites and S2000 and TSX projectors seem to be popular. I don't really care about color effect on the cutoff and all that jazz. I just want the cutoff to be clear. Thanks!

Well i can do a retro fit and use and projectors you want. let me know what yo uhad in mind and budget.

I had thought of getting someone else to do it, but changed my mind pretty quickly when I saw what they wanted for it. I'm trying to stay in the $250-$300 range all told. I have bulbs that work for now and I just ordered some used headlights. Let me know if that's something that you can make happen or not. I understand completely if that's not enough money.

Bargain shopping will cost you at least $300 in parts, and that depends on the type of set-up you want to run. I used TSX projectors in my retrofit because they're a really good projector for the price you can get them for. If you want to do bixenons, I'd recommend the FX35's. Neither projectors are the best, but do their job very well for the price you pay, and they're 1000X better then stock.

I hear ya on that. I don't think that I'll have a problem staying under the $300 mark. I found some projectors for $75 shipped and got the headlights for cheap too and I already have the bulbs. Other than misc adhesive, tools, etc I don't see a whole lot of additional cost. Am I missing something?

Well labor is 125 bucks for me to do them and what projectors did you find for 75? Most of the time if you find projectors for that cheap there is a reason. Mrgl has a point. I have the fx's in 3 of my 4 cars and i have tl's in the other. if you are trying to stay cheap your output will suffer. if you raise your limit just a little you can get it done and be happy with the result.

Just to give you an example, i did a retro for a person that cost in upwards of 1000. Bare in mind you could see for a good quarter mile and lit up a 4 lane highway wide. There was nothing you couldn't see . Then if he needed more with them being bixenon he turned the highs on and you could see the future.

Hmmm. The projectors for $75 are Acura TSX projectors. I believe they are not Bixenon. So if I provide the parts, your cost is $125? I may have to just do that. Would save me a lot of headaches. Let me think it over.

Edit: Ok so I know this is over my $300 limit but what about these? http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/servlet/the-305/BIXENON-RETROFIT-PROJECTOR-HID/Detail

yes the tsx are singles and can be retroed. If you are willing to give up your high beams the tsx's arent that bad at all. i would strongly suggest a shroud for your retro also to clean it up a bit. i can deff do it for ya just let me know when .

For one, you want to make sure your using brand new headlights. I'd prefer to use OEM's because the aftermarket ones will haze in a short period of time with the projectors. If your looking for a realible set-up, only use OEM equipment (projectors, bulbs, ballasts). You'll also need a shroud to cover up the projectors.

IMHO, the kit on that website is trash. Don't bother with it, or you'll be very disappointed. Spend the money now to do it right the first time, or you'll regret it.

Just as a side note, Mr95Gls projectors are pure sex. They look flipping awesome and were done VERY well.

So I decided not to get the tsx projectors. I think that I want to go bixenon. I'll start looking around for a good deal on FX35 projectors and shrouds. Since ebay is out for bulbs and ballast, where would be the best place to look? OEM to me means big bucks, especially when it comes to HID.

Yeah, I started looking around and figured that out. Looks like the project will have to wait a little bit while I gather some quality parts. Thanks for the advice!
