Are Gen III lower control arm bushings the same as Gen III regular Tauri/SLO?

Any info appreciated - zak

The front lower control arm is the same on SHOs and SLOs from '96-'99.

I've recently developed a clunking noise that is happening during oscillation of the front suspension. I have replaced the struts, strut mounts, springs, sway bar, endlinks and bushings recently so everything is in order there.

For whatever reason, I've got this clunking noise that seems to be related to the lower control arms. As I said, it occurs mostly when going over gradual undulations in the road (which cause small to moderate front end vibration). Additionally, it will happen when coming to a stop and then reversing. I am thinking that this may be the cause of the vibration that I am seeing on the freeway which resembles wheel imbalance, although it has done it even when new wheels and tires were installed.

I haven't heard much talk about replacing the control arms (with integral bushings) compared to all the talk about subframe and sway bar bushings.

Has anyone out there had to replace them? It seems that with all the other bushings being replaced with new that there would be a need to replace these too!?

You can also get that kind of noise when the sub-frame bushings are wearing out. When I replaced mine, the clunk over mild dips and rises went away.

Good point. Ball joints can sometimes get thunky sounding, and it is pretty easy to do in a set if you are driving in an area with a lot of *** holes left over from the winter.

To tell you the truth, the ball joint is less than a year old. The sub frame bushings, however are pretty hit, and it does seem like a reasonable diagnosis. They were next on my list of things to do (especially since I know how cake they are to replace after doing the friggin' front sway bar PITA!

I am having similar clunking noises, when coming to a stop, starting out from a stop, suring turns, etc.. I just had the ball joints replaced and I m still getting the noise. From what i have read the general thought it that it is the bushings. Two questions, If it is the bushings should i just replace them or replace what they are on as well, and is this the sound that people get when they have the aluminum SFB, because I have read that they produce a little clunking? THanks
