Boat, Although I have had very good luck with Michelin's on other vehicles, and had no problems with mine there are others that would disagree. You are about to wake some sleeping bears soon with that question. I can definitely recommend the Pirelli Cintaurato P7 all season based on the good experience from my SEL. I have the Eagle F1's from a Pacific Northwest Performance Package on my SHO now and they seem to work well.

Oh gosh. Yeah, no worries. I certainly try to learn as much as I can...and I have no real world data on the MXM4s on the SHO. Which I'm sure alot of the racers here do. I had over 40,000 miles on my 2012 Taurus SEL that had the original Michelins that were still looking awesome. No wear issues at all. And again, with no experience on this SHO...but plenty of experience on other high performance and 4x4s... tires are generally one of those "You get what you pay for" items. Michelin's are usually way more expensive, but they are great tires for what they are... but I can understand why people don't like them and that hefty price. Obviously the tires mentioned here on this thread seem to be all pretty good tires from reputable brands. Continental, Pirelli, etc... I really just want all season tires that can handle spirited highway driving, drive in the snow in Michigan, are quiet and last for a nice long time. I really don't want to put summer tires on a set of wheels and buy winter tires and spare wheels.

So far so good on my BFG's but they're still new. I do plan on road racing when Spring comes so I'll be able to provide a better opinion then. I know you get what you pay for but that buy in is pretty steep. I've never put Michelin's on any car I've ever owned (because of the price) but I did use them back in my Sport Bike days. They were GREAT tires but very expensive. I experimented and found that I got similar performance and wear out of less expensive tires so I stopped using the Michelin's. I guess I just figured the same logic carried over into car/truck tires.

I have (and have had) a lot of cars and I do exhausting research before I buy tires for anything. I've made very few poor choices so far.

Usually, Michelins are a pretty safe bet where performance is concerened, but SHO owners have not been so lucky with their OEM tires. Thankfully, there are plenty of tires today to choose from that will meet your price AND performance points. A lack of storage space prevents me from having separate summer/winter sets, so I run the best all-seasons I can, even if I have to pay a little more, while recognizing that at the fringes, dedicated tires will always perform better.

Tires have been evolving, but a revolution is in the offing. Manufacturers are working on tires that change shape and pattern depending on surface and environmental conditions. So who knows!

Has anyone put the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/45 ZR 20 summer tires on their gen 4? Not real happy with the OE Goodyear F1's. My tire dealer says with the way I drive I might get 30+K miles on a set vs about 20K on the F1. Input would be appreciated.

If you're not driving your car in the snow or cold weather then forget all season tires and get some performance summer tires. On previous cars I've had excellent performance from Michelin Pilot Super Sport's and plan to get them for this car when my current tires are shot. They have great grip in dry and wet. The downside is they are on the expensive side and life isn't terribly long (as expected with soft compound tires).
I am looking at a set of the Michelin Pilot SS to replace my Good year Eagle F1. How was the noise level? I've priced them an they are about $300 ea, about $80 more than replacing with the F1s. I'm getting about 18-20K mikes a set on the f1s and think I can do better with the Super Sports. What was your experience?

Does anyone like and/or stick with the Michelin MXM4s? Being in the wheel business... I do follow tires a little... and speaking very generally, Michelins are great tires.
I absolutely loved the Michelins on my previous car, Pilot Super Sport 285/30-20 on the rear 255/35-20 front. Though as great as they were, they are stupid expensive. The SHO would be awesome for fun track days with 4 of them, but at almost $400 a tire I will look elsewhere when it comes time to replace.

I like Michelin tires overall, but I recently put Pirelli P7 Cinturato A/S plus 245/45 R20. I did a lot of research and the Pirelli's continually came up in my search but then I chose Tire Rack.com who had the best website comparing everything I had been looking at and I was able to break it down to two manufacturer's Continental and these Pirelli's. They rated way above all others via selected categories , performance, endurance, winter or s ummer driving, etc etc. The continentals were more expensive than the Pirelli and they were on a couple of points difference. I also ran into a few SHO owners that also recommended the Pirelli, so that is what I put on my 2011 SHO, the only problem I have had with the Pirelli's was remembering how to spell it properly....hahaha. Check them out for yourself at www.tirerack.com We have driven them just under 1,000 miles and love the way they perform, ride, handle and look. I also got a rebate from Pirelli $60.00 for 4 tires. I had purchased the tires from Tire Wholesalers locally and price came to $1,083.00 they also balanced them and then had to balance them again for a slight vibration at 85 mph. You can contact me at [email protected] or iMessage 231-855-4926. Good luck in your search.

I put on 4 Continental DWS06 yesterday. My tire guy said he highly recommended them. Since my SHO is my DD, he said try them out for 30 days and if I didn't like them he would take them back and give me credit on any other tire of my choice. I like the fact they have an excellent wet rating. Don't really care about the S(snow) aspect because I have the Blizaks. My F1s hydroplaned on wet surfaces. I'll compare and see. Taking a 600 mile road trip this week in wet and dry conditions which should give me a better chance to see how they feel. Thanks for your feedback.
