The SHO wouldn't exist if the Taurus didn't exist. Give credit where credit is due.

For those that don't care about the "SLOs", that's fine, but do you think Ford would have recreated the SHO if the Taurus didn't exist? I don't think so. So have a little respect for the "regular Taurus" - sheesh!

You guys can call it whatever you want, I'll be calling it a Gen 4 & the forum labeling will continue to show it as a Generation 4 (2010). ;)

so whats the point of this thread?

if the masses decide to call it a gen 6 you would just ignore the popular vote?

Yeah. It's my forum, I can do that. :p :sun:

Besides, there was never any question in my mind as to what it was. I didn't start this thread, so I really don't know what the point of it is.

They had a bunch of Yamaha motors they had to put somewhere... I think we would have found a "SHO" version of something ;)

Seems to me if you are going to call it a Gen 4 SHO then you need to drop the Taurus part.

In my opinion This would be the Gen 5 Taurus and the gen 4 SHO. Ford stopped making the Taurus a few years ago and made the 500 series. Sales went down on the 500 series and Ford brought back the Taurus. Once the decision to bring the Taurus back into production we SHO enthusiasts brought our ideas, thoughts, and opinions to the drawing table and in short. I believe the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO should be know as Gen 4 SHO.

Thank you.

I absolutely respect the Taurus. I remember back in the days when I first bought the forum and many SHO owners basically disowned the SLO and shunned their owners. I was one of the only people who acknowledged, welcomed and encouraged the SLO owners to come on-board here on this forum as well as on TCCA. Some of you old timers who have been around that long know and can vouch for me on that.

But back on the Generation 4 SHO thing, forgive me if I have a little pride in the breed of car that I drive, just as the SLO owners have pride in the Taurus. It's not just a Taurus to me, it's an SHO. As you can see, my pride doesn't stem from the name Taurus, it stems from those 3 little letters; S-H-O. Arrogant on my part? I like to think not, but that's how I feel. Aside from that, this is SHOForum.com.

While I have been reminded once today that logic has no place on the internet, I am still a logical minded person and I cannot change that. We have the Gen 1 - 89-91, Gen 2 - 92-95, Gen 3 - 96-99 SHOs. It's only logical that the next generation, regardless of the year, be called a Generation 4. We don't count 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, etc. That just doesn't make sense, and would be confusing to those who will be coming into "our world" when the new SHO is released.

That's my feelings on the matter. Like I said, you guys call it whatever the heck you want to, the important thing is that Ford actually listened to us and brought the SHO back!

Well I wasn't implying user names but rather the "Online home of the Taurus SHO".

It is what it is, both the car and the banner. I'm done arguing about it.

Its pure ignorance to ignore that cars have been grouped by generation since a car has been made, and has nothing to do with any special features, engine, badging or otherwise. It has ALWAYS denoted major redesign of the MODEL, period.

Its the fourth time an SHO badge graced a Taurus body style!
Thats it ! Simple!!

Then call it the forth coming of, But Generation has nothing to do with the TRIM LEVEL, and like it or not, the SHO has always been a Trim package and always will be. There will never be a 20xx SHO SEL.
