126K asking $3,450.....

-ok, so the time has come to let my only ATX go. I've only owned two vehicles longer than i've owned this one. I used to pass by this one on my way to work everyday for almost 5 years. The people who owned it, traded it for a Chevy and the dealer wholesaled it to a buy here/pay here lot, where i purchased it from in 1999 w/95k miles on it. I then knew it was one I wanted to keep, so I started doing my "normal" routine to it. first I had a 60k done to it. That was before I knew how, and had a tech who was familiar with them help me. I then turned my attention to the inside and started pulling everything out so I could clean it, as the p.o. were smokers. Well, while that was going on, I came across a Dealer Magazine from 1993 that had a pic of the "new" redesigned inside for the Gen 2s and it was black. I immediatly fell in love with it. Did I mention the car had a gray int. at the time???? So I started gathering the items to convert it to black. This was not to be a daily driver, so most of the time, it sat in the garage, not being used with a cover over it. I took it to FPS and had a set of Dougs' subframe connectors put on it. I was in no hurry and did things along when I had time, but rarely drove it. As it sat in the garage beside my wifes car under cover, my oldest son was growing up, seeing it everyday and always told me, "dad, i want that car when i start driving." Well, he was actually a Jr. in high school before i turned him loose with it. He had been driving my brothers old '95 3.0 SLO up until then so, with much chagrin, I took it and had it checked over, and gave it to him. He has driven it for the last 3 years. That was until we agreed to help him get an Explorer Sport Trac, like he really wanted. Thus the SHO came back to me, and I once again, have found me "another woman", (ala Tom) an MTX. So, with that, I need to empty the driveway of one vehicle, and the ATX was voted most likely to go. Its really has been a great car and though its build has not been chronicled here like the old white one, it is in just as good of shape asthat one was when it left. So enough chatter and on to the attributes of the car........

-Now a little about the inside......
-new Auto custom carpets floor carpet
-most black parts and pieces were bought/gathered from black interior cars.....OR NOS pieces were bought.
-put , AT the time, a new a/c control head in it 1999. it was a soft button one. the vent and max button have small cracks starting in them. i could put a hard button one in....if i had one, but it functions and is not cracked out like most.
-the LR window motor is not working, but i have the motor, just gotta put it in....
-O/D cancel button is not working at the moment, i am working on it.....Problem found. parts on order.....
-LF door actuator has stopped working. again, have parts am workin' on it....

However, there is some trim that rather than spend the money to buy the part, i had the original grey ones cleaned and painted. After 13 years and lots of passengers, there is very few places where any paint has flaked off. It still looks as good as the day painted....example of them are...A-pillar trim, C pillar trim, main console bottom, dash. the only items you really notice is the air vents. I dont think we primed them as good with the small intricate parts....now all gray trim has been replaced with the correct black pieces!!! see posts below.
-NOS Black headliner
-NOS headliner retaining ring (around opening of sunroof)
-Ford Accessory Remote CD player....10 disc.
-Ford Accessory keyless entry/Alarm system installed. works and functions...
-NOS all 4 black seat belts & buckles......

-Here are the "bad".......
windshield had a 3-4 inch crack line when i bought it. it has now run across the RH half of the glass. here, if it's not in the drivers line of sight, its ok. you can see over it in the passenger side, stops just past rear view mirror in the center....
dont leak, original windshield, i havent bothered it........
effect10_zpscee55ee7.jpg

-on the filled in letters on the bumper cover, the A/C pulley center broke out in May, locking the drive belt. when it did, it shut the car off as the belt locked down. my son coasted to a stop. the bad part it was in the entrance to the Alabama State Troopers office. it wouldnt start and they told him he couldnt leave it there or they'd ticket it. he had to move it. the driveway was uphill, so the troopers got a crown with a push bar and pushed it into the parking lot. Result: cracked filler, scratched clear coat, and a black mark left by the rubber covered push bar.....

I drove it for about 1500 miles after I got it back to make sure it had no problems. car has no tag or insurance on it, so there wont be much driving it now. Great Post!

Two Questions.

1. Do you have original slicers?

2. Could the car be driven about 1000 miles or would it need to be trailered back?

1. no. but i do have the set on my MTX, if you want to swap, but i don't think the tires are as good........

2. I'd drive this thing to California, right now. it's that trouble free.......

********* UPDATE********

-as i have stated, i am fixing some of the small, quirky things on the car that needed to be done, but have never took the time.
first the O/D cancel button/switch is now working. needed a new contact switch thats up inside the shifter. here's a pic showing you can turn it off now........also note, miles are not accumulating not being drove......

001 zpsd7071091

-also, have installed LR window motor, and now it works as it should. up, down, all around......

and while i was there, everyone wants to know about the overhead consle switch. the console switch was broken out, but instead of gluing in, like most, i made me a template that fits around the switch on the back side of the console and i drilled four small holes in the front of it and used self tapping screws to tighten it down. never moves or had a problem with it, just looks a bit different.....

003 zpsdf70f159

-also, this is the original sun roof shade, that was stripped of the gray cloth liner on it. it is just bare and black as nothing has been applied to it......

002 zps7c81aa9b

-and while i was there, i tried to take a better close up of the control head to show the buttons, but failed it seems. it prolly would have never been broken out, had my son not drove it, but as i said, they have just started to crack, and not broke out......

004 zps71f1bd5f

-that is all i have for now......

-i have still been "asking" $3,450 for this car, and like me, i'm sure not everyone has that much lying around at the moment with the Hoildays upon us. i have already put about another $225 into it since i started the ad to fix the window motor($106 Ford motor), door lock actuator($80 Ford) and O/D cancel contact($40 obsolete Ford). Now as interest has been little for whatever reason, i am thinking of putting more into it to get the rest of the black interior trim and some new A/C registers to get it right, and to swap out the wheels and put on the lefty/righty slicers i have to pretty much take it to stock, save the door mldgs and rear cover. but i may do them...or just the doors. and i still have the fender emblems i may put on also. But i'm saying all of this to say this on this post #17 ONLY!!! until i get these things done, which i will start on in a couple of weeks while i get everything together, I will sell the car for $3k, until then. If anyone is interested in it as it is, that is what i will take right now. so if you want a great riding/driving reliable G2, now is the time to pull the trigger.....

Clean car though. Once the gray interior bits are swapped out for the right color it would be even better. Needs a hard button EATC though...

The rubbing on the intake...does it need a front motor mount, or has it been replaced? Just as an FYI to anyone who noticed, but didn't ask...

-ya Kev, got a hard button coming from bubba also. yes the motor mount was replaced about a year ago. i put it on the 1st list of what had been done to the car.....i'll prolly take a scotch pad to the intake to see if it helps with the rub spot......
