I had some nice windshield rust on the top of the windshield of my 97 SHO. It didnt look bad until i took the windshield out, and discovered that there was more than I bargained for. Rust all over the whole lip, i'm surprised that the windshield didnt leak because the adhesive was not even attached to the lip. After about 3 hours of sandblasting and brazing the pitted section of rust, i filled it with some all-metal filler, and finished it with polyester putty, primed it and painted the lip and about an inch onto the roof panel. I have to paint the roof this week where the bodywork was done. I am getting a brand new windshield installed tomorrow for 150 :) Anyway I just figured i'd post some pics of the repair in progress, and they are kinda crappy taken with my camera phone. Anyone else ever run into this??

I have a spot along the top near the driver corner. Too afraid to dig into it and see. :oogle:

Its a pain. Expect to replace the windshield if you attempt to do it, they are encapsulated windshields, which means that the molding wraps around the glass, on top and on bottom. It is nearly impossible to remove without cracking.

its almost like the water gets trapped under the molding when it rains/when you wash it. Maybe the windshield was replaced before and wasnt treated properly.

it took me two class periods at school. so if you spent a good 8 hours on it you could get it done. I used one of the handheld sandblasters with the recycler unit on it, so the sand didnt go everywhere, and so you dont waste sand, but that takes forever because it only blasts a nickel size spot at a time.
