Gen 2 Seats & More, Going In My '91 Plus

Some of you might question why shrug , but I am replacing my pretty nice full black leather seats in my '91 Plus with 50/50 cloth-leather seats. I think that the 50/50 seats look much better and are 100% more comfortable.

I already have a super nice '91 black 50/50 rear seat, but I can't find any front seats to match. The only nice black 50/50 front seats that I can find are Gen 2, so it looks like I will be changing the front and rear seats. I know that the Gen 2 seats will bolt right in, but to make the rear seat look right I will also have to change the rear window shelf mat.

Does anybody know if the rear window mat is a simple swap? Are the seat belts and speakers in my '91 Plus going to match up with the cutouts in the Gen 2 rear window mat? I know that since my new parts are coming from a '93 that I will have to make a modification for my 3rd rear window brake light, but that shouldn't be a problem.

I have already installed my Gen 2 Console in my '91 and WOW it looks 100% better.

My brother did this to his 91 sho. He got a 93 parts car with mint black leather seats and wanted to get rid of the black 50/50 that came with his 91 so he swapped them over. The rear deck needs to be cut along the back edge. Use the old gen 1 deck as a template. Use a jig saw to cut it, this is the easiest way. Then the sides of the gen 2 deck need to be trimmed and cut with heavy duty scissors or rose cutters as I used. By trimming the sides it is gonna leave a gap that can be seen through the rear quarter windows. I plan on fixing this by tinting the windows. The gen 1 seat belts will still work but the trim piece for the gen 2 will need to be cut along the bottom to get it to rap around the gen 1 seat belt. Also trimming for the third brake light is easy just make sure you line it up and double check where you are cutting. I also had to use some stuffing material under the gen 2 rear deck to make it bow up so that the third brake light did not leave a gap between it and the deck. As for the speakers....you will need to ditch the wacky gen 1 mounts and get some 6x9's that will mount in the hole meant for the jbl subwoofers. The sound will be so much better by doing this also since the rear metal deck acts more like a speaker box than the wacky metal things.
