i need advice on this one. i'm currently looking to buy a Gen 2 and i'm down to two choices: a 94 ATX and a 92 MTX, both engines are in great condition, the clutch was replaced in the 92 and the tranny in the 94 is brand new. i'm just concerned about ATX SHO's. do you think i have many miles to go with an ATX? the car has 140K on it, but tranny is brand new. and how often should you change ATX fluid? let me know asap. thanks

drive both and see how you feel. I haven't driven an atx sho that I liked. To me they feel more like grandma cars. :D

I like to shift, not that I redline my car very often, but I like controling my shifts. I also like the fact a clutch costs me 300 whereas a auto tranny would cost me 2g.

If you like automatics, the 94 sounds like a good choice. Personally, I enjoyed my 94 ATX for about two weeks, then I realized the ATX was slowly driving me insane. 92 was the first year of the Gen II, and, contrary to popular belief, does not "own". It has smaller brakes than the 94, outdated steering wheel, no spoiler, black door handles, hidden exhaust, vented sunshade (that peels), etc. But, I would still go with the 92. Its an MTX and thats all that counts. I love my 92 now that it's a 94/95 clone (still looking for a spoiler). But to each his own, some people like the 92 in its original configuration, just not me.

 ouch. Its more of a gen 1.75 anyway...

You'll find theres a bigger aftermarket for the MTX, if that matters to you. Also, the mtx can take a beating (N2O) better than the slushbox.

Yeah man it all depends on how you like to drive... if you wanna eat or change cd's or stuff like that its harder w/ a 5 spd... if you wanna cruise and just cruise... do w/e and have partially fast car... then go for the ATX
i have a 90' mtx, and a 93 atx... i personally like the mtx only because im going to spend more into it ;) but i love my atx, its been VERY reliable. and if you stick a lpm in it, it is even better:)
Best of luck-

Smithsil, that was cold

I like my 92 as well, maybe it's because I'm a freak and like the 1st gen center console.. Or maybe it's because I plan on taking care of most of those problems you listed, but hey, that's just me :p

Oh yeah, the topic at hand: MTX. hands down :p Driving an ATX just feels weird to me, it feels too lazy IMO ;)
