So I currently have the Blazer 2600's installed as my driving lights, and I'm at the end of my rope with a few things about them. Namely, the bulb receptacles don't deal with heat so well and cause intermittent connection issues, and the replacement bulbs themselves (H2 socket, in selective yellow) are available from 1 vendor in the UK.

I would like to change to something that looks stock, fills 90 percent of the fog light opening, and takes a common bulb size (like H1 or H3).

Anyone have any recommendations?

I could only put H1 xenon bulbs in them and had to modify them a lot(base mostly)
The did come out to be bright enough for me to drive with the only on even on a highway.
I used silicon to hold them in place.
it's been 1.5 years like that and no problem.
HOwever, I would use clear vinyl on those lenses, because they will eventually crack from all this garbage flying into them on our roads.

How did you manage to use H1 bulbs in an H2 application and keep the filament in the same location that a H2 bulb would? There's an 18mm difference in length, that's pretty substantial.

Also, I should mention that I'm not looking to make this a 1 off custom or have to mod it to work... the H1/H3 bulb requirement is the design fitment.

LIke I said, I used xenon/HID bulbs, but I had to cut and grind the base of it in few spots to make sure it fits properly in, then i used washer that came with those bulbs on the outside and used silicon to hold everything in place. I used stock Blazer boot to cover everything. Let me try to take a pic of something now and post it.

ok, this is what I could achieve tonight

Just to make it clear, I did not do nothing with the lamp , just bulbs.

I think bulb 880 would work a lot better though. Less work. If i remember correctly, i had to cut plastic from bulb base up to its capsule for top and bottom and the only thing was left is sides to hold it. Sorry, pics are crappy, did it with my phone with the help of a flashlight. It is wet everywhere, so couldn't get under the bumper.

Right, but I'm not looking to have to mod the bulb every time it needs replacement.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

IIRC Marcel installed some nice HID driving lights, that didn't break the bank, and worked out well.

PIAA has some like mine with amber and clear but I know you want single bulb. IIRC they have something in clear and real close to stock size.

I have the PIAA 1500xt with a clear lens, but for high speed driving light output, I think the 2600 Blazers were better. The PIAAs have a lower cutoff, so I can leave them on all the time, where the Blazers had to be turned off around town, unless I aimed them uselessly low.
