I have a 94 ATX with high mileage and oil leaks that eats a front motor mount every year or two. Over the years I found that the Ford made mounts lasted much longer than the Anchor aftermarket mounts. I considered going to the solid mounts offered through SHOForum members but I thought I would give one last shot to finding a Ford made part that would fit. I have found that on Ford part YF1Z6038AA you only need to hack off an indexing pin on the base of the mount and it bolts up nicely. This is the front mount from the 2000-2005 Taurus/Sable 3.0L V6, so the Ford made mount is still widely available for around $100 each.
You can make some of other regular Taurus mounts fit with some grinding but I stumbled on the YF1Z6038AA and found it had almost identical mounting dimensions to the Gen 2 SHO ATX mount. It has been in for a few weeks now and nothing has fallen apart yet. I make no representations on the suitability of this part for a 20 year old vehicle but it sure seems to fit up nice. I suppose that it is not worth the trouble to Ford to certify this part as backward compatible for older models.
