gen 1 SHO electrical problem

I have a 91 plus and i have no electrical power and the car will die if my wheels are straight but if i turn my wheels left or right the power comes back on but the second i move the steering wheel the car will die and power will be gone... im stumped i had a new steering column in about a year ago and havent had any problems till i rebuilt my motor and re installed it then 4 months later it starts this problem please help me

well, it could be a bunch of stuff, so you will need to do some checking...

it could be a bad ground to the engine, such that when you turn the wheels and the engine moves slightly the ground path disappears.

it could be some connector that is touching the steering column, rack, subframe, or something else that moves slightly, such that when things move the connector is not making a good path.

I would check for good connections on all the engine grounds, and on all the connectors that bring power from the key to the pcm as a place to start.

Yeah, what ^ said.

Check the easy stuff first.

Cables attached at starter solenoid on fender well.

Ignition switch (which is attached to the steering column right above your left foot) might have worked loose.

There is a relay on top of the radiator(under the shield) the yellow wire should be have 12 volts. If you turn the steering wheel and the power goes out you are look for a break in the yellow feed wire.
