Hi All,

I’ve had two 1989 SHOs since the mid-1990s, my current one I’ve had since 2004 that I paid $200 for from a friend (to cover the two new front tires he put on) who only wanted a case of beer for it. It sat in storage until 2018 when I decided to get it out, get it going and roadworthy again. We’ll, it’s on the road with a bunch of new parts and elbow grease, but I’m still chasing a miss.

There can be stored codes without the dash light. What have you done do it since getting it out of storage? That long without being maintained can lead to numerous issues. Bad gas, old fuel filter, plugs and wires, vacuum leaks are the first things that come to mind.

Yep, thrown a bunch of money (which I’m fine with) to replace as much as possible with “New” so it’s a reliable driver………New fuel tank, new Bosch pump, flushed the lines, fuel filter, complete tune-up with nos Motorcraft SHO plugs and wires (no oil found in wells), sprayed carb cleaner around to find vac leaks, timing belt, South Bend Clutch with nos F1DZ flywheel, upgraded SHO Source motor mounts, new transmission mount, transmission seals, Amsoil ATF, ATP clutch cable, upgraded shifter cable-ends, complete suspension with lowered Eibach springs, all bushings, tie rods, all brakes, stainless hard lines, half shafts with nos hanger bearing assy, all aluminum radiator, water pump, all hoses, Motorcraft thermostat, belts, greased idler pulley bearings, coolant temp sensor, temp gauge sender, intake air temp sensor, MAF, nos TPS, coil, original SHO Shop cat-less Y-pipe (from my 1st SHO), O2 sensors, likely more I’m not remembering. It’s almost like two plug wires are reversed, but I’ve triple checked that knowing the Chiltons and the factory Ford Book 2 are incorrect.

Ha ha well, “Key on, Engine off” I get one Code, 11….. looks like I’ll have to drive it more and keep the battery connected when I park it.
