Gen 1- Gen 2 Struts

Are the stock struts on these cars interchangeable ? Can a Gen 1 use the gen 2's struts ?

i just bought a set of front struts for my Gen 1 off Ebay for 37 plus 16 for shipping. not a bad price for Monroes, only thing ill lack is a warranty..oh well, its only money
