I am interested. What kind of clamps do you plan on using? I would like to see high quality clamps used, instead of standard cheap hose clamps.

Everyone: How do you feel about marine grade stainless steel clamps and screws? These are used on marine, corrosion and underground applications (slotted hex screw).

I also found a liner clamp that is specialty made for silicone hoses (also stainless steel). As some of you know, silicone hoses are very soft and can extrude through lower grade clamps; these clamps prevent that from happening.

As I stated earlier, I will finalize many of the details in a few days.

From the limited amount of research I've done, I think the way to go is with stainless band clamps. They use a tension bolt instead of screw drive to tighten the clamp.

I'd go with the SS clamps that are made for the silicone, especially if they're made to prevent the silicone from extruding, like you said. Otherwise, the solid band clamps that K-Dawg mentioned would work just as well.

Definitely. I also want to make sure the edge of the regular SS clamp does not dig into the soft silicone, as opposed to the more rounded edge of the specialty bands.

I still didn't hear from my supplier, I will give him a call tomorrow.

We've located OEM-Style Clamps to use with this setup, and the price looks to be very reasonable (a considerable amount less than the SHO Shop, with higher quality hardware).

I'm about to rebuild my intake, so I'm very interested. And I have no objection to blue hoses either. I just got my blue taylor plug wires in...do you think they'll match?

I have blue Taylor wires and will post side-by-side pics of the silicone hose when I receive it.

I am making 3 trial sets (which are spoken for already). The trial sets will determine if I can reorder the same supplies to successfully start producing these kits to everyone.

The orders for hoses and clamps were placed today and should be received and assembled within 10 days AT MOST. If everything goes smoothly, I'll list the offical group buy within the 10 day time period in the classifieds section.

P.S. Thanks Chris and Chris (AutoSHO and SHO--ripper) for helping me in my search :thumb:

I dont know about spending money for the "H-E-double hocky stix of it"....

The discussion is about replacement hose connectors for the intake manifold. These short peices of rubber hose (stock) connect the intake runners to the plenum tubes, connect the crossover to the plenum, and connect the front and rear plenums together ensuring an air tight seal. You can locate them in the engine bay, they are the black rubber tubes about 3" long and roughly 3" in diameter.

For many, the stock rubber units are old and begining to show wear. This can lead to vaccume leaks and a messy look to the engine bay.

If you are participating in one of the group buys mentioned by Alex (the EH or BBB buy) you ought to consider replacing these connectors as a convenience.

I recommend getting these silicone replacement units because replacement units have been (basically) non-existent until now and may soon be again.

Good luck with your desicion!

I would surely want a set or two if this goes through... especially if there were some different color options... :thumb:

Are these straight hose pieces or do they have the same formed inner contours as the oems?

I'm working on getting black.

They are straight hoses; formed silicone connectors would probably cost about, oh, a thousand dollars per foot :p
