I am putting in a 2 guage pillar in my 89 and what i was wondering was A)i would like to see some pics of some setups and the type of gauges you guys are using and B) are you using mechanical or electric...only because i personally dont like the idea of running tubing through the dash into the pillar, butill let you guys post and hopefully this will help me in deciding what i want to do...

as i dont have mine on the pillar, im running mechanical... i was like you at first... didnt want to run a mech. line into the cab.. but i did it, and have yet to have any problems... and i doubt i will.... (knocks on wood)

electrical gauges are nice... but i would rather have mechanical... Just IMO though.

Im running oil press.,water temp, volts, and A/F.... the first three are in the DIN slot, and the A/F is in the cubby under them.... just FYI...

IMHO, I would run oil pressure, and water temp on a pillar. Actually, a relative fuel pressure gauge would be best on the pillar, but kinda pricy. I would go with electrical, less to worry about, and depending what gauges you want, you can get full sweep electrical, too.

Btw, narrow band a/f is a worthless gauge.

They say the mechanical guages will be the most accurate, but a pita to install. Theyre both decent.

Personally, I like the guages on the pillar. It gives you an easy veiw without having to take your eyes off the road.

Johhny, I know RIGHT where those were taken ...

Personally, the most relevant guages for any vehicle are: Water temp, tranny temp (for ATX cars), oil pressure, oil temp, and lastly being volts.

I have water and tranny on my A pillar and I would love to do an oil pressure but the electric guage is some ungodly amount like $200. Mechanical guages ARE more accurate, but electric are MUCH easier to wire. With that being said, I did have a mechanical OP guage in my green 96 (slo0 and it worked like a dream for over a year when I got the SHO.
