gauge lights

my gauge lights wont come on! i can turn them on by turning the dimmer all the way up. but then the interior lights are on too. whats goin on here??

thats what i thought, it happend on my bronco with the switch that pulled out and with a little jiggling it would work until one nite it started smoking so i bought a new one. thank you for the reply.

I still don't know what the deal is with my dash lights...they don't work EXCEPT for the rear defroster, ECC, and dimmer switch lights. I can't keep the fuse from blowing in the fuse box either. Someone suggested there was a wire going from the fuse box to the headlamp switch that supports all the power to the dash lights. Sound correct? PLUS now I don't have any fog lights either. DIS BLOWS! bs

Check the light power connection to the radio unit. You mentioned that this problem began after your brother installed a new radio head unit. The dim-able light power lead to the old radio sounds like it is now grounded.
