Gas useage question

How many miles to the tank do you all normally get ? I am running my first full tank through mine (I did forget and filled it up with reg ) but I am down almost to 1/2 tank on 80 miles. My car has straight pipe from cats back will that hurt it. No check engine lights etc. Also it seems difficult to get completely full took gas real slow over 3/4 tank only 12 gallon from light just coming on. THANKS everyone! I love my new toy!

I usually get between 230 and 280 miles on a tank depending on how I drive, with my average fuel economy being 16-18 mpg. 80 miles out of half a tank seems pretty low, but you are running regular which may have something to do with that.

100 miles to 1/2 tank today but I stepped on the go pedal ******* a 2nd gear pull for the first time today to SHO a buddy what a SHO could do to his turbo civic! This thing will move out!! WOW I LOVE IT!!!

Sounds like it's time for a new fuel level sender. Check wiring also, maybe it's damaged and needs a patch.

Most of the gauges in my SHOs don't even move off of full for the first 30 or 40 miles. Normally I see less than 300 miles on a tank with purely city driving (18mpg). I've gotten over 400 on the highway at about 28-30mpg.

I will fill it up again this weekend so I will see how it does then.

The are 2 main things to help fuel economy.
Have your Maintainance up to date.
Control your right foot.

The second one is the hardest! After all, It is a SHO!

I usually get around 17 mpg in town, and close to 30 on the highway.

Well I attempted to fill it up yesterday 220 miles (stopped as soon as gas light came on) but I could not get but 10.6 gal in it and had to barely put gas in to get there. Acted like it was full but it only filled it to one line below full mark.

Any ideas on what causes that?

How many gallons are left when light comes on?

It looks like the gauge isn't accurate. Sometimes the metal bar that holds the float in the tank gets tweaked when taking it in and out of the tank. Yours it quite possibly just tweaked up, making the gauge read low. It's not a big deal if you know the problem, but it looks like your mileage is pretty normal. The gas tank can be either 16.8 or 18 gallons.
