gas smell

I have a 2013 pp SHO. I have a gas smell, seems to be rear of car. I smell it in the am before i start car and smell it sometimes right after shutting the car off for like a half an hour continuous. I searched the engine bay, though I can just smell it there too....nothing seems out of place, I see no leaks. Car had the updated recall gas pump module thingie 2 yrs ago. No codes, nothing odd on scans. Stock tune. Stock aircleaner. Slight loss of mpg, I attribute to winter, and house start warm ups. Car runs great....just smells....it did it before last yr, around same time but stopped in the late spring and summer. It just recently started again since it got real cold....did not do it wen I first bought it with 36,000....has 72,000 now

Even though the recall was done, it doesn't mean they didn't screw something up. If you smell it behind the car, I'm willing to bet it's the EVAP system or something else leaking fumes.

Scan it for codes, even if the check engine light is off.

Ya could be purge valve. Replace the pcv valve too. Both the pump and the control module were under recalls at different points. Since you dont have gas dumping onto the ground, The fuel pump can likely be ruled out. Havent seen a problem with the hpfp fuel line in quite some time either. The canister/vent valve is under the pass cabin IIRC.

A sniff test may be able to help locate the source.
