look in some ovious places first like where wires come through the firewall or something where they might have been rubbing metal for 100k miels and worn a hoel through.

I'm having this exact same problem, keep blowing #8 fuses with the RKE plugged in. Unplug it and the fuse is fine.

I'm leaving it unplugged for now because I'd rather have the radio and interior lights, but is there any fix for this because right now I have no power locks even with the door buttons (is that right if the RKE box is unplugged?)

Thanks.

Congrats on using the search. :)

Have you considered replacing the RKE module?

...D'oh :(

Heh, guess I'll drop by the pull a part and see if they have one.

Although is it right that the regular power lock switches don't work if the RKE is unplugged? I only ask because my Taurus GL has power locks but no remote entry so I always figured the locks themselves were wired in the car, it was only the remote part that was added.

On a non-RKE vehicle, the door lock motors are connected directly to the door lock switches.

On your SHO, the switches are inputs to the RKE module and the RKE module controls the motors based on the inputs.

There is no quick and dirty way to convert the RKE system to a non-RKE system.
