Functional Rear Wing

A discussion came up in another thread and got me thinking...
I would think that a functional wing in the rear of the SHO would help handling (but hurt straight ahead speed as stated in the other thread.) I notice that when I put some weight in the trunk the car seems to handle better (getting closer to 50/50 distribution.) Has anyone ever put a functional wing on the SHO and dialed it in? I’ve got tons of other stuff to do to the SHO before I even consider doing this, but I was just curious.

I've wondered about this a bit, too.

Some people try to get their SHOs to be a bit more loose, so a wing would work against that.

My silver car was a little bit loose in fast corners and could possibly have benefitted from a little downforce back there, but I wouldn't have wanted to take the drag hit on the straights.

The Pumpkin seems to be neutral to pushy, due in part to the fuel cell hanging off the rear.

On a tight course where the hit to top speed wouldn't hurt too bad it might be a net benefit, but unless the car is too loose already it's hard to see a benefit.

Several folks have put splitters on the front with good results, and with a splitter the grip balance would likely move forward enough to make a wing worthwhile. With an n/a car I don't know that you'd have enough oomph to really get much benefit out of it, though.

At VIR, downforce would be a godsend in the climbing esses. The two long straights might be affected, though. On street tires, I was dancing my way from apex to apex.
