This weekend Logan (ilikepoultry) and I took the transmission and engine out of his 93' parts car... we found out why he spun a rod bearing... when we were lifting the engine out... it tilted a bit twards the front (of the engine), and the oil pan poured out about a quart of oil... :oogle: we got the tranny out without any hitches... and get this : NONE of the mainfold studs broke when removing the exhaust(a feat that I didnt succeed in when taking off my Y-pipe from my texas born SHO... it figures that when we dont care about putting it back together it comes off clean

it was both our first time removing an engine... and it wasnt that hard... although we pretty much cut any wires or hoses that gave us greif while lifting it out... :| and weren't planning on putting the engine back in the car... so we didnt have to keep track of anything... but pretty good for a first time experience... ive taken out a tranny before... but again this was much easier, due to the fact that we weren't worried about putting it back in :)

so anyway... the car is pretty much stripped... and if you guys visit the classifieds section, youll see our ad for parting out a 93'... I am also selling some stuff... i just thought id let you guys know this so that if you need anything you can swing by and pick it up... logan is usually busy all day... but im generally free at night... and can dish out some parts if need be (please someone PM me if this is against the rules, i have already paid for the ad, I am just extending it to the WISCSHO section to hopefully help some of the club members, my main reason is the excitement of removing the engine)

I was/am looking for sway bars. But I think Adam already asked. Glad you had fun - and had pretty decent weather for it too!

nice now come do my wp already i cant even drive my car anemore

wow... looks like help is in demand... honestly id love to help everyone... and i wish i could... I am still working 8 hour days on my spring break... and spending time with my girlfriend who i rarely see :( ... but yeah i love tearing these cars apart and learning about them... its getting pretty bad though... just ask logan... im telling him what bolts need to come off, and worse yet... what size they are... and ive got about a 90% success rate... :type:

i think ill have some time this weekend maybe... and ill be back for the tech meeting weekend so if anyone wants a hand...

EDIT: oh and i just got my 96 Big brake upgrade today... can anyone say FN74 brackets and 11.6" rotors for $35?... logan is trying to resurface the rotors tomorrow... ill see what he does with them... theyre pretty rusty but it looks mostly surface rust  cant complain for the price :)

P.S. Luke, you have no excuse... you need a tranny and engine IN and i just took both out.. the weather isnt bad at all.. its perfect for working on cars.. jeans and sweatshirt :)
