Hey all... Ive done some searching but havent really found anything, I got a 93 atx with 97k on it that has occasionally been dying and stalling out on me. This has been happening for a week or two or so....Then today the car just slowly lost all power and eventually become disabled. At first when i would hit the gas hard it would just started sputtering. Eventually I lost all power and the car would basically idle.....Currently the car will barely start and when it does as soon as you try to give it gas or even move it under load it just sputters and stalls....I havent had a chance to check anything yet, due to the car currently being stuck on the side of the road, but wanted to drop in and see what you guys thought. Thanks for any help

Sounds like the Fuel pump , but it can be some other stuff like the CCRM (which powers the FP.)

Pull the codes first.

You searched and didn't find anything on the subject hu .... funny plenty of threads that explain how to test your pump .

It sounds like your pump went **** up . you can pull the ecc tester and short the lower right pin to the battery ground and it SHOULD run the pump nonstop with the key turned on . If it sounds funny or doesn't run your pump is shot .

Change your fuel filter too.

Can also get a fuel injection tester and hook it up to the valve on the fuel rail and check it running .

This should get you started , go check out some old threads there are plenty just like this one . Good luck .

Already told you change the fuel filter, Could be clogged .

The fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail doesn't fail that often .

edit- sorry was tired didnt see you had filter in there .

Try disconnecting the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator. If the fuel pressure goes up, then it's bad.

They don't go bad often, but they do go bad.

you can unhook the fuel lines at the couplers. put a bucket under the feed line and go prime the key a few times and make sure you are getting fuel up the the couplers. Swap out the FPR for another used one. I even have so many spares Id send you one for shipping.

ok i have an update cause this one has really thrown me off....last night i ran a code scan on it, and got about 10 different codes. the check engine light always has come on for some time, but has never had any driveability problems, so some are old codes. But the first set of codes were 116, and 327. The second set of codes i got was 172, 176, 212, 327, 332, 542, and 556...but the part that really got me confused is last night i had absolutely no fuel pressure at the rails, so tonight, i just get off work, go out and do absolutely nothing to the car except turn the key on and the fuel pressure goes to 20 psi. turned it off, hit the key again, it went up to 32, hit the key again, went up to 40 and holds steady. But still wont start???...so im hoping that someone can maybe give me an idea of whats going on with this car, cause u guys know alot more than i do about them. thanks again

Codes:

http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/code3.htm

542 (O,M) Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on - - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

The rest of your codes are O2 sensors (replace them once your car is fixed)
and an EGR issue (either bad or clogged - adress it when repaired)

Ah ha! That'll sure do it.

Clogged converters are becoming more and more of a problem as more and more of them reach the end of their lifespans.
