I don't know if this is the right section bu I didn't know where else to put it. Anyway is it bad that this little rubber piece is ripped? Should I replace it or will it not hurt anything?

That's the return line check valve, which keeps vaporized fuel from bubbling in the tank. Replace it.

ha, funny because I was just reading about the check valve and how it can cause issues. I figured now is a good time to replace it, but where can I get the check valve replacement and that little rubber piece? I was lookign on rcm and rock auto and called 2 of my local parts places and nothing so far. Do I have to replace the entire sending unit or can i get that piece separate somewhere??

When I needed one on my 95, a friend that worked at pepboys opened a new pump
and"borrowed" one for me. That was 5 years ago and I couldn't get one seperate then. Good luck.

You can order that from the parts department at your local Ford dealer. I just ordered for my car.

Also, there are two different sizes for that check valve. I'll be damned if I know which one I have, so I ordered both. The pair of those two small rubber valves cost me $20.73 with tax.
