My fuel pump is really, really, really loud all the time. It sounds like the same noise it makes when you first activate it, before starting, key in on postition. Is this a sign that I am soon to replace my fuel pump? Or do I just have a noisy fuel pump?

Id say your going to need a fuel pump soon. Ever since I bought my SHO in 2000, I had to replace the fuel pump 3 times. Twice with the "Motocraft" ford spec pump, and the last one with a different brand I cant remember. I havent had any problems thus far with the latest one, but if I recall properly, the other 2 pumps did the same thing your describing before they bit the dust.

3 dead pumps? I had 1 replacement pump die on my slo wagon, but 3? Do you have a fresh filter? Do you drive around on fumes much? The ford engineers put the pump in the tank to keep it cool while it is immersed in gas. Actually, I think they were doing it to be ****** as well. You might also want to consider buying gas elsewhere.

Welcome to the Forums! thumb

W/ Ford fuelpumps when you start to hear this noise it could die any day afterwards..

On the other hand,
I bought a cheap NEW Autozone pump and put it in, it's whined really really loud for more than a year now.

I guess good pumps shouldn't do that.

ps- SDPATT has always had EXCELLENT advice for me. He knows his SHOs! :D

Hehe, I'm actually Piccolo, member #1234, but I forgot my password and wanted to make one for work. Thanks for all the welcomes! Anyways, I hope that it is just a cheap one from autozone, because I'm at work and the thought of that my car could just stop working any minute is kinda scary! eek! Is that pump available locally? I hate shipping charges and wait times. Hope it holds untill Friday, Payday....
