Where is the fuel pump located on a 92' SHOE?

Is it under the backseat or in the Trunk?

It's in the fwd right hand side of the fuel tank, underneath the rear passenger seat area.

Some guys have cut access holes thru the body under the rear seat. You can find instructions @ www.shotimes.com however I personally don't recommend doing it this way. fuel pumps don't get changed that often, its not that difficult to drop the tank and replace it the correct way. Doing it correctly will also allow you to remove any sediment (especially weld splatter that FORD may have knowingly left behind), inspect and clean the tank. You'll spend more time cutting than removing and less of a chance of major catastrophe.

Unless you live in the salt belt. In removal, you run the risk of breaking strap bolts, tank straps that are rusted to the tank, and the resultant holes that are torn into the tank when you attempt to remove them, and other fun maladies like that. :)

I cut my floor pan with a dremel and a metal cutoff wheel. Took me all of 10 munutes to cut through the floor pan and gain access to the fuel pump.

I disagree, but to each his own.

I've done 3 fuel pumps on SHO's and consider myself pretty good at it. 2 tank drop methods, 1 attempted tank drop, and one floor cutting method.

If you try to drop the tank, there are a few things you need to be aware of before you attempt this:

1: If the straps and bolts are rusty, you should prepare to have replacement bolts, nut flares, and straps. You will break them.

2: If you have full length Subframe connectors, you will not be able to drop the tank, the connectors are in the way.

3: The time it takes to drop the tank vs. cutting a door is massive. I screwed around for 3 hours trying to drop the tank (breaking bolts, straps and ****** nuts, only to discover that the SFC's were in the way. If you carefully cut the door using tin snips and patience, you will have access in under 30 minutes. Being careful not to generate alot of sparks, you will be fine. Cut only just below the surface then tin snip the rest with patience, you will be fine.

Ok, so its under the backseat like I figured. Any specific replacement pump I should use?

Should I replace the relay as well just for good measure?

I have done fuel pump on 4 different taurus.. I can have it cut and the fuel pump out in about 5 minutes. Then if you have a faulty fuel pump down the line, you dont have to do anythign but remove the seat..

The best thing I found to use is a air chizzel. Dont make any sparks and cuts right threw it.

I've produced about as much sparking as you possibly could... The fuel tank is sealed and the lines aren't sitting up on the underside of the body. You can cut through with a Dremel and a cut-off wheel without much worry. I've done it to 4 cars now.
