Hmm,
Well today I went to drop my brother off at the airport and I started up the car and all of a sudden she coughed and died. I tried to restart her to no avail and pushed her back under covered parking. I listened for the fuel pump, and she gave a short bzz once and I shut off the key and turned her on again and heard no noise of the fuel pump engaging.
I left the car and had a friend drop off my brother, and about 45 minutes later, I went back out to the car and the car fired right up?!?!? I wonder if the fuel pump is either on the way out? Or did I have air in the fuel line? Did the computer need to reset itself or something? I dunno.. shrug

First off, how recently has your fuel filter been changed?

Second, how much fuel was in the tank when this happened?

If the fuel level was low and it happened, I would guess the fuel pump isn't long for this world. If the fuel filter hasn't been replaced recently, look there for a cheap and easy fix. It could also be debris clogging the fuel pump "sock" in the tank. Sounds fuel related.

On the other hand, when was the 60K done? Water pump? It also sounds like a bad CPS. Check to see if the computer has any codes stored. It should have a "fuel pump primary circuit fail" if the fuel pump is indeed bad. Good Luck!

60k was done only 18k ago by one of the best (SDPATT). It might be fuel filter, the tank was over half full when it happened, but ironically I am installing a 190lph walbro this week! perfect timing. PRobably going to change the fuel filter out at the same time.

sunny San Juan Bautista,
A lot of fuel pumps failing recently. My old pump must have been fuel starving my engine something fierce because with my new 190 an old friend is back. Torque steer! boink

If the fuel pump is not running at the turn of the key it could be one of two things: the pump itself or the ICRM (fuel pump relay portion). The next time the pump doesn't run at the turn of the key, have someone turn the key to START as you tap the ICRM below the plastic cover over the radiator on the driver side. If you hear the relay click and the pump starts, the problem was the ICRM. That doesn't mean the fuel pump is healthy, but it does mean that the ICRM was not working properly.

Thank you sir..I will check both items this week when I install my 190! thumb

Oh BTW, you wouldn't happen to have a p/n for that relay in your "sho bible" on the computer, would you?
