The last couple of times I've driven my SHO I've noticed an increased smell of fuel. The tank is 1/2 full, but I know there are some discussions on warm to hot days that the vapor canister can smell a little. While stopping at a store to pick a few things up on the way home, I noticed a loud buzz (almost) sound coming from the car after I shut it down. Walking around it sounded like it was coming from the fuel tank, but stopped before I could get a definitive answer, but did notice a significant smell of gas when I put my head under where the fuel tank is on the passenger side.
I took the car home, and did some more looking around - no leaks or anything. Nothing better to do on a Friday afternoon than to drop a 1/2 full fuel tank right? In the process of dropping the tank, I was pulling apart the fuel filter to release pressure on the system, and wouldn't you know it, I disconnected the side after the filter (going towards the engine on the supply side) and got some fuel, alot of air, some more fuel, hot air, really hot fuel, and so on until the system had no pressure in it.
What might I ask would cause air in the SUPPLY line going to the fuel rail? I'm SURE this has alot to do with the random starting problems I've been having. I think from what I can tell, the air in the lines was bleeding back into the pump and making the noise.
