I had to take off my intake and fuel rails to replace the knock sensor after reassembly i found a puddle UNDER the car (thought it was a leaking waterpump) after closer inspection i noticed that my fuel injectors were soaked, so i took a trip to autozone and got the replacement O-Rings (garbage if one asks me, and here's why) After cleaning all the gas off the top of the block and removing/putting on the new O-Rings it still leaks. Is there a trick to putting them back on? I seated them in the cylinders then moved them into the fuel rail holes started the bolts and then adjusted them to make sure they were still seated correctly. Needless to say its still leaking (from what i can tell where the injector seats into the fuel rail). What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick to it? What about neopreme (sp) or RTV? SOMETHING im getting desprate! Anything to get rid of my Gasinfested Lake SHO on the top of my engine.

All you should need is those rubber o-rings. (get a couple extra just in case) You have to be a little careful putting them back on because it is easy to gouge the side of the brand new o-ring and have to do it all over again. If the injector to head bushings are dry and hard you may have to replace them too. Sometimes removing and replacing an old seal can cause it to leak so it may just be that one of the old bushings giving you trouble now. I have learned (the hard way)to plug everything back in and turn the key on so the pump will prime the system before bolting the intake back on. That way there is less work if something isn't right.

You need to be sure the correct o-rings are on there. When I reinstall injectors I make sure they are seated properly in the rail first then gently manipulate them into the heads. Leaking is more likely to come from the rail end so be sure the connection is proper there first IMO.

Well I just bought the new o-rings again so this time i'll put them into the rail first then into the heads i think thats the problem, I was splitting the o-rings before. Hopefuly this time it wont leak. Thanks for the info as always :)

I hadn't tried putting them on the rail first. I was always too worried about the seal in the head falling out. Twice now I have scored the side of a brand new o-ring and I was being very delicate. Hopefully this time goes better for you!

Well new O-Rings in this time i found that there was a 1/4" gap between the rail O-Ring and the injector spacer w/ the O-Ring kit it comes with 12 0-Rings so I put 2 on each injector and it doesnt seem to be leaking AS MUCH, but it is still leaking, talk about being frustrated. Personaly I think the design of the new o-rings should have replicated the old one's instead of being 3 times as large. Oh well one more time :( LOL after so much practice it only takes 5-10min to get the intake off :p

How hard is it to insert the injector into the rail? It almost sounds like they gave you the wrong o-ring because it shouldn't be any bigger than the old one you took off. I know that when the parts stores I go to look up the part number for the o-rings they come up with slo parts. I just take in one of the old o-rings and have them get me about 8 more of the same size out of the box under the counter. Hopefully you can get it straightened out soon. On the bright side, the experience is always a plus.
