Unfortunatly in the real world you have to prove your mod didn't cause the problem.

I think a dealership would have a really hard time proving a cold air intake caused a transmission failure....

Maybe, if it created extra power outside of factory spec.

Let's just put it this way. If you mod the car or take it to the track and Ford finds out your fighting an uphill battle getting any warranty work done.

They dont have to prove anything. People read the law and think they are protected but unless you have a lawyer and ready to fight a downhill battle you arent getting anything. In reality its you having to prove these mods dont cause the problem.

“Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage. “from http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt192.shtm

This is the same thing we have been talking about before. When we install the K&N air filters, it will do anything to the transmission. One thing though, if the engine does something like having too much oil inside because of the cleaning of the air filter with too much oil, then the warranty. Yes we will have to pay for the parts.

Just like placing the tune into our computers, Ford did not approve the computer program so how does the people who know what the max what the engines can do. Did Ford made the SHO to the max for ever lasting, or is Ford pulling our leg to make us do thing to our cars where we have to pay for the broken parts within the warranty?
