Was wondering if anyone had this problem:

I have a 1995 SHO and the front spring broke about a coil up from the bottom. There was a jagged edge of the spring that was 1/4 inch from my front tire. Ford issued a recall on pre 1995's to install a catch brace to keep the spring from hitting the front tire in the event of breakage. In 95, it was standard.

Hindsight being 20/20 I would have replaced the front springs with Eibach's, but instead I have Moog's. The car sits higher than it did before, something that isnt too bad in the winter, but isnt the best for cornering.

I ripped Ford a new one for letting such a item to be band aided instead of totally fixed. Of course the effect is much the same as yelling at a brick for being heavy.

I have a '93 and last fall when I went to change the struts I found the springs were broken. The last 4-5" of the spring was sheared right through, though enough of it was left in the seat that the catch brace wasn't needed yet, luckily it had been installed anyway.

I was a dumb-ass and replaced the springs with stock ones, and I noticed that the ride height was slightly higher. I think this was probably because the broken springs sat about an inch lower just from the end of the last coil being broken.

Yep, same thing. My driver's side front spring is busted near the bottom, not enough to notice on the outside - it is resting on the spring seat. I've got front springs from a 91 - I haven't got them on yet. I was wondering if this was a freak one time deal or a common occurence. Good to know that I'm not the only one!

From what I've seen when one goes the rest usualy follows. I had 3 go on my car, thats when I put the struts and springs all around.

I had 3 springs break on me too.... both of the back ones snaped on the top and bottom, and the passangers side front is slightly broken, but not enough to damage my tires...

new ones make the car feel alot more alive in the turns :)

My rear passenger side broke smack in the middle and moved against the inner weel, thats how I noticed it. So I checked the rest and the drivers rear had broken on the bottom first coil and the drivers front was broken on the top first coil.

Yup mine broken in front on my 95 to, but not on my 92  . Talked to my friend at ford dealership. Common problem on all Tauri.
Replaced mine with Eibachs and struts are now Tokiko's.
