So i'm getting mixed messages here. Some places on this forum say that the front speakers on my 94 premium sound are 6 1/2". But on every web site i look on, their sizing programs are saying that the front speakers are 5 1/2". So i'm just trying to get a straight answer. Is it possible to just put in 6 1/2" 's without doin modifications, or did SHO's come with em? Thanks

I did the same as you, ordered the 5 1/2 and am stuck with them cause I didn't want to go through returning them and all. I made them work but had to drill some new screw holes but they just fit the holes.
6 1/2 only has 3 screws.

They are 5 1/2. Keep in mind they are stock speakers and they are manufactured for ford. Just as with many other auto items they over size the speakers to make it difficult to replace the stock speakers with just any aftermarket replacment. If you use 5 1/2's to replace them they will fit but you may have to drill new holes if you use 6 1/2' you will have to cut the mounting frame/cage the stock speaker mounts in and then bolts to the door frame. I have had both in mine so either way can be done. If you check into JL audio, kicker and MB quart speakers I believe some of them carrie the off size sizes that may be a direct fit.

I just istalled my 6 1/2 Infinity Kappa's and used the metal ring that comes with the speakers, mounted that to the stock speaker bracket, then mounted the speaker to the ring...."like a glove".

The only thing that worried by was the plastic partial circle on the door panel touching the speaker itself? Anyone ever cut that out?

I have a 94 SHO and Kicker RS6 speakers in my front doors and I had to cut the stock speaker cage in order to get them in. When I had a custom installation done they could only fit 5 1/4" Infinity Beta's. Either way you can get them in both ways MAY require mods depending on the speaker size. Each manufacture has different mounting hole and depth deminsions for their speakers best bet is to find some you like and then reference the on line info to insure they will fit.

6.5 all the way! Infact, i recently tore both my door panels off to inspect the wiring for my front two, the nerds at circuit city did an awful job, and my pass side speaker was cutting out, so i had to rewire it.

But they fit perfectly, and are just mounted onto the stock metal speaker mount...doesnt look to hard at all. I can't believe i actually paid those guys to install the front ones...oh well

PS, i <3 my infinity's
