Just sold my 6.5" MB QUART component set because I thought they'd fit into the Q-forms kick panels they make for the Taurus.... WRONG  So... I'm thinking that I may still do the Q-forms kick panels with the 5.25" set so it will fit. Anybody used the Q-forms before? What do you guys do for a front soundstage? I think the staging in the doors stinks personally, but if you guys have any good ideas, I'd love to hear 'em. thumbs_u

I put my 6.5 in the stock location and my domes in the two small panles where the auto lights sensor and EATC sun load sensor were.

I put my 6.5" woofers in the doors and put the tweeter in my stock 3.5" location in the dash. Sounds pretty spiffy.

I had kick panels made and housing a Dynaudio Tweet and Midrange, then built the doors to accomodate a Dynaudio 8'' mid-bass driver sealed. Also, put another set of Tweets on the A pillars. A lot of deadening went into the door.

Yeah, if you autocross or race your SHO, kick panels will become dead pedals for your foot. Not good. Unless, that's acceptable, stick with the stock location. If you have separates, get a swivel mount for the tweeter and place it(on a GenII) on the forwardmost part of the door, just above the mappocket. Aim the tweeter to the space between the front seat headrests. Your midrange imaging won't be perfect but that doesn't matter as much as tweeter imaging.

Just as a subwoofer has very little directional imaging(you'll hear it the same from virtually any angle) and a tweeter is deadly accurate(just the littlest bit of direction can be noticable), the midbass/midrange is somewhere in between. Not as crucial as the tweeter.

My kick panels were constructed with that in mind. You can rest your foot on them and wouldn't even know that they are in the car unless I told you they were there.

The Alpine F#1 processor takes care of the rest of the imaging.

I have my MB Quart 5.25's in the stock location and the tweeters in the pillars just like adidas_kn does. I have the Clarion 9675 deck and it has a DSP for seating positions. It images perfectly and I love it with them in those locations and the DSP on. However with the DSP off, I think that this position may not be the best. I am looking into making kick panels for my car, but I think that the ebrake location on the car makes it difficult for good placement. I am still trying to figure out the best placement. Until then, I like the factory locations with the DSP.

I'll be happy to show the pics. I posted a while ago about getting a new digital camera. I won't leave out the hand-made Audison amps, either wink
