Inertia Switch?

Jerry,

My first thought is that in the frontal impact, the fuel pump inertia switch was tripped, cutting power to the fuel pump (to help prevent fires following impact). The switch is located in the trunk on the right side (I think). There should be a plastic handle or something to pull to reset the switch. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I've never had to deal with this switch yet. Try a search if you need more specific info on it.

Hope this helps!

Ditto on the inertia switch, on the rolled parts car I bought athe owner said that it would not start. The first thing in did was push the switch reset button and then it fired right up!

...

I heard that if the air bag blew that it will not be able to spark, is this true? Is there another reset button? I tried the trunk reset button and it still won't spark.
Thanks for the help!

Consider the following from the Helm manual.

"If the accident involved an air bag deployment, the steering column may have been loaded sufficiently to deform steering column mounting brackets or damage column wiring. An inspection should be made of the column structure and clockspring wiring to ensure that any damaged components are replaced." rangerj

Blown airbags will not disable the vehical. My '93 parts car drove with both air bags blown. I suspect that the IRCM is damaged if it's not the fuel shutoff switch. It's located under the black label panel over the cooling fans. Also have you verified that the DIS module is not damaged? I would go over the wiring for the ignition system before I started throwing parts at it.

hmm

The DIS was fine and im getting spark and gas..When it rolls over it sounds like something is cutting in and out and shorting out and the fan turns on when i try to start aswell. the car was dameged on the drivers side, i already pull that side out about the same as the other side so its evenly flat across. Do you think i should get a new airbag sensor (ircm) or can i just unplug it?

Im trying everything but there is something small thats keeping the car from starting i wish someone had the answer so im up for any sugestions

THanks guys

If the fan comes on when you turn the key to run, then either the CCRM or PCM are damaged, or more likely there is a short somewhere in the wiring harness that's causing this to happen. Best bet at this point will be to grab a multimeter and an EVTM and start checking those circuits one-by-one.
