Looks good David. I left the lip on with my silver 98 for stability. View on the car Domain web page below. I plan to do the same as you with my black 97. I like the ideas about the paint.

Man! Brian, that is NICE!!!!!
So your gonna cut the bead off for your black gen.3? Also, did you trim the OTHER end of the edging on your silver one? If not, I assume it is doubled over where you fastened it to the stock air dam...?
]Also, where did you get the "nascar" TAURUS decal?

Now go get you some black satin "Fusion" paint and spray it. I did that and it blends in well with the car (mine is black also). I found the edging to be not as black as I wanted, but after painting it, it looks like it belongs there.
I did this last night... and you are QUITE correct, sir :thumb:
Thanks for the tip.

Originally I added the air dam to my car right before the 03 convention. I left what is being referred to as the "bead" on basically as kind of a joke with Paul.
Over the years the types of edging as Paul has stated has changed in its composition. I don't have to original anymore, it's lyining in a ditch somewhere in the mountains of Northern CA.
I did not have the use of a table or band saw for this years dress up. However I found a pair of shears at a local Ace that were for Light PVC trimming. Laid the edging out on a long flat surface and used tiny framining nails to hold it place, and hand trimmed the whole roll. Now I have basically the same look as before and spares to boot.
I used black screws to fix it to the lower valance with washers. I didn't have any dimpling problem.
You can get really creative as Paul and Carter have and use the same trimmed edging for full car skirting. Ask Paul how to do that.
I have found that as my car is TR, all I have to do is hit the dam with some tire foam and walk away. Couple of minutes and it's as black as it can be.

The reason there are dimples in the edging when attached is because the back is not sitting flat.

Here is the same stuff on my '93.

As far as the dimpling goes, I found there were two grades of lawn edgeing at Home Depot. I bought the Heavy Duty Contractor material the other was a lighter weight PE. Then I attached it every 8" with self tapping black metal screws. I think the screws cost more than the edgeing. I first noticed the front air dam on Larry's car at the 2004 convention and asked his wife what that was. She laughed and told me lawn edgeing. But that's okay my wife laughs too! I still like it as an after market modification. Thanks for the mod Larry. I think I did see your edgeing along the road in Northern California.
